10 Most Romantic Restaurants in Bangkok

Couples’ Restaurants in Bangkok

Romantic restaurants in Bangkok are found throughout the city, and come in various shapes and sizes – rooftop or water’s edge? Candle lit dining room or a meal under the stars? Of course, everyone’s idea of romance is different, so we have tried to include a variety of dining experiences. The thing that groups them together is that each of these restaurants is well-suited to a romantic meal in Bangkok with just you and your special someone.

We’ve included some secluded venues surrounded by rich gardens that feel a million miles away from the hustle of the city, along with some of the best rooftop vistas, and a couple of charming riverside restaurants right by the water’s edge. Even if you’re looking for something out of a movie scene – soft candlelight and a string quartet – we’ve got you covered with this list of Bangkok’s most romantic restaurants. If you plan to go to any of these restaurants for your  Valentine's dinner, book several days in advance! (See also 5 Great Restaurants for Valentine's day)

Sala Rim Naam

Riverside - Expensive
Sala Rim Naam

Dining right by the water’s edge, Sala Rim Naam at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok combines all the elements needed to be one of the most romantic Thai dining experiences in Bangkok. The amazing location by the riverside, the legendary Mandarin Oriental service and, of course, the key ingredient of the Thai food make this restaurant one of our very favourites. If you dine inside, you can enjoy a live theatrical performance, but it’s the charming outdoor patio where the feeling of romance is best felt. The menu runs through traditional Thai dishes – we suggest taking the mini set of appetisers as you may find new Thai flavours beyond the classics for which Thailand is known. Read More...

Vertigo

Sathorn - Super Expensive
Vertigo

Bangkok is certainly not short of rooftop bars (with more opening every season) but, for classic romance, we can’t look past the cute tables of Vertigo, on the 61st floor of The Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel. The menu serves up western classics – from Caeser salad to steaks and ribs – but it’s the view that will have you thinking back on such a special meal under the Bangkok sky. It’s important to book early to get one of the best seats, along the side rail. This will give you a better view and more privacy. Read More...

Le Normandie Bangkok has been synonymous with high-end dining for over 40 years and keeps a strict dress code. In fact, it’s one of the only dining rooms in Bangkok where men must wear a blazer. J'Aime by John Michel Lorain

J’aime Bangkok is perfect for couples who really enjoy new restaurant experiences. This fancy French restaurant was opened by 3-Michelin starred Chef John Michel Lorain and is now run by his daughter and her partner. The food is classic French in preparation and flavour, but there’s an Asian twist added in the delivery. For example, one of the most popular dishes at J’aime is a Gillardeau oyster, served with a cauliflower puree, a wrap of spinach, and pearls of oyster brine, citrus and bergamot. The restaurant is located in the beautiful surroundings of U Sathorn Hotel, overlooking a peaceful garden and the hotel swimming pool. It feels a million miles away from central Bangkok. It is a bit hard to find though, in the back streets of Sathorn. Read More...

The Gardens of Dinsor Palace

Sukhumvit - Mid Range
The Gardens of Dinsor Palace

Dinner in a mansion previously owned by Thai royalty should impress even the most demanding of partners. There’s an aviary with a family of animals, including some fluffy white bunnies and a white peacock. The menu has some hearty western options, such as a rack of ribs with espresso barbeque sauce and thick potato wedges (450 baht for half a rack), but we definitely prefer the fancy Mediterranean-inspired dishes like butter fish with orange jus, raisins, eggplant and firm cherry tomatoes. With the vast majority of the menu under 500 baht for mains, prices are surprisingly low for such a special experience. Read More...
