What: Dernière Minute Company (Pierre Rigal) : “Press” (La Fête 2009)
When: June 12 - 13, 2009
Where: Aksra Theatre, King Power Duty Free
With “Sacrés Français !“ or “Holy French!”, you will discover the latest trends. These unique artists who hit the headlines through the sheer audacity and originality of their creations, will astonish you with their style and statement.
“Press” exposes the life of modern man in his immense ordinariness and at the same time, in his enigmatic complexity. The body of this individual-product, worrisome dandy, is driven by a standardized linking of his own automatisms, but also by the wheels of his own narrow vital space. Perhaps with consent, he finds himself held captive in a room almost entirely empty. The mechanical modifications of this physical and mental environment act upon his body, forcing him to adapt endlessly his position and his movement. He is thus led into an absurd and anguished impasse…The renowned daily Le Monde has described this performance “a small jewel of intelligence and philosophy in action” while the English news papers The Guardian and Time Out have awarded it 4 and 5 stars! What: HIPHOP - Short stories.com by Accrorap Company (La Fête 2009)
When: June 12 - 13, 2009
Where: Patravadi Theatre, Boat pier 10
French hip-hop dance enjoys huge international success and Thai audiences are already familiar with the companies Käfig, Etha Dam and A’corps. Last year, Thai, Laotian, French and multiethnic performances at the festival offered us an opportunity to appreciate hip-hop in all its diversity. This year, “La Fête” has invited the company that everyone has been talking about in France: Accrorap!
“Short stories.com”: Is it possible to create dreams with an eye on reality? In his latest show, the Accrorap choreographer Kader Attou offers us some laughter and lots of soul. To create this piece, he plunged into the memories of his dancers and his own childhood. From J S Bach to TV news, the soundtrack is a journey in time as the dancers provide lyrical moments, before breaking into a humorous dance performance and a tribute to Folon. This is a show composed of short sequences inspired by burlesque cinema in which tiny touches of humour keep step with choreographic surge in a free, light and poetic style. What: New Circus BP Zoom Company: “A Wonderful world” (La Fête 2009)
When: June 16 - 17, 2009
Where: Aksra Theatre, King Power Duty Free
“A wonderful world” is a duo of modern clowns. Between Buster Keaton, Jacques Tati or Monty Python, this is a silent version of Laurel & Hardy in colour. Borrowing from techniques used in gestural theatre, clowns, manipulation of objects and music, Mister B and Mister P are two anachronic characters who create humour and poetry from banal gestures or the simplest situations. One is fragile, instinctive and animal, the other professorial, slightly disillusioned and… as fragile. With almost nothing, just some paper, three lengths of string, no decor, not even text, Mister B and Mister P will make you laugh and stir up your emotions!
