If it's a night of hardcore partying you're after, you're in the wrong part of town. Pratunam is all about shopping; all day long and well into the night. It's easy to catch a cab to popular nightlife areas like Silom or Sukhumvit Road though, where you will be spoiled for choice. If you're looking for more nightlife alternatives, have a look in our Bangkok Nightlife Areas for more ideas.
Although there isn’t much to do in Pratunam once the sun sets, the area is not completely dead at night. Many hotels offer bars and lounges with live music, while dining at Bangkok Sky Restaurant at Baiyoke Sky Hotel - Bangkok’s tallest building, is an ideal, too.

Bangkok’s Coco Walk, tucked away in the shadows of the looming Ratchathewi BTS Station, is a fun little alleyway packed full of Thai-style pubs making the perfect bar-hopping opportunity in the Pratunam area. When we say Thai-style, this means nightly live bands, cheap beer (often coming in the tower-form), spicy pub-style snacks and plenty of friendly locals to rub shoulders with.
Cheap prices and a laidback atmosphere aren’t the only things going for Coco Walk. Many of the bars have free pool tables, as well as live sports, shisha pipes and one place even has a skate ramp (Skate Cafe). Look for the rather well-worn ‘Coco Walk’ sign as you make your way down from exit 4 from Rachathewi BTS Station. Most bars open around 17:00 and go on until past midnight. Read More...

Red Sky can be found on top of the Centara Grand hotel at the popular Central World shopping mall. This stunning rooftop bar is a great place to relax after hitting the shops of Pratunam, whilst also offering a great place to watch the sunset over Bangkok’s impressive skyline. Red Sky rooftop bar is easily reachable from either Pratunam in the north or the Siam area in the south, and presents some stunning panoramic views of these two shopping districts.
The bar’s main focal point is its stunning arch, which when illuminated red at night is even more spectacular. The excellent international cuisine and range of beers, wines and cocktails at Red Sky are a little on the pricey side, but do remember you’re sitting 55-storeys above central Bangkok in some rather swanky surroundings. The Rooftop Bar is on the 83rd floor of the tower, which can be found in the centre of the Pratunam district. Those that don’t want to eat or drink but still want that view, head to one of two observation decks at the Baiyoke Tower (400-600 baht). Following in the footsteps of its older and bigger brother at Central World, Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel has set up a rooftop bar of its own. Whilst Walk Bar is only 21-storeys up, the views are still fantastic, particularly across Pratunam to the nearby Baiyoke Tower, Bangkok’s highest building. The spacious open-air lounge has lots of different seating options, including comfy sofas, at the bar, or on more private tables for two by the edge looking down onto the street.
As for food, Walk Bar lays on a fine range of snacks and food, as well as an extensive cocktail menu including their signature Tom Yam cocktail, a mix of vodka, lemon juice, galangal, laffir lime leaves and lemongrass. Heralded as Bangkok’s best rock ‘n roll bar, The Rock Pub is a great choice for those who like their guitars loud and their nights to start a little late. Opening its doors at around 20:00, this long running venue doesn’t really get busy until around midnight, with the first band in their nightly line up rarely taking to the stage before 22:30.
The Rock Pub, not to be confused with The Hard Rock Cafe, is an independent bar which was opened some 25 years ago. Some famous international names in the alternative rock scene, such as ‘Dragon Force’ and ‘Take Him Down’, have graced the intimate stage over the years which still welcomes the odd foreign act alongside the capital’s best talent in the way of heavy metal, grunge, scream and various other forms of hardcore rock music. Find it by taking exit 4 at Ratchathewi BTS Station. Read More...
Sapphire Bar at The Sukosol
Sapphire Bar opened in 2012 as part of the renovation of the Siam City Hotel (and subsequent name change to The Sukosol). This stylish bar, which is found in the lobby of the hotel, follows a distinctly 1920’s ‘speakeasy’ theme, fitting with the jazz-oriented roots of the hotel. The whole bar area is spacious and intricately designed, complete with blue vases sat on each table, classic furniture and a swanky mirrored ceiling.
Alongside some laidback jazz music in the background you can enjoy some tasty tapas as well as imaginative cocktails - happy hour runs from 17:00-19:00 daily. Sapphire Bar also lays on a rather luxurious ‘afternoon tea for two’ from 14:00-18:00.
- Opening Hours: 08:00 - 00:00 daily
- Address: The Sukosol, 477 Si Ayuthaya Road, Phayathai, Bangkok

Henry J Beans Bar and Grill
This classic all-American-style bar and restaurant is the place to come after hitting all the shops in Pratunam, and is located at the Amari Watergate Hotel opposite the big malls on Petchaburi Road. Opening time is a great time to come as that’s when their buy-one-get-one free happy hour starts (17:30-19:00), whilst they also have a live band playing from 21:00 on Thursday to Saturday. The place is huge too, decked out in American posters, artwork and memorabilia – although the whole feel of the place could also be compared to an Irish bar with its abundance of old wooden fixtures and high bar chairs.
Henry J Beans Bar and Grill also serves up a fine range of feel-good pub classics like burgers, stakes and juicy ribs, which can all be enjoyed whilst watching some live spots or playing a game of pool in the designated games area. Find it under the Amari Watergate Hotel opposite Platinum Fashion Mall.
- Opening Hours: 17:00 – 01:00
- Address: Basement Floor, Amari Watergate Hotel, 847 Petchaburi Road

Located at the ever-popular Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam, the Platinum Lounge is a stylish hotel bar which offers some great views across Pratunam as well as some excellent live music in the evenings. The sophisticated bar boasts some huge floor to ceiling windows, allowing plenty of light to flood inside in the daytime, as well as creating the perfect photo op of the bustling streets below. On the menu you’ll find plenty of tapas, as well as an international a la carte menu.
Platinum Lounge welcomes mostly hotel guests, although just like most Bangkok hotels, you are free to wine and dine here even if you’re not staying at the hotel, meaning this is a great post-shopping post if you’ve just hit the malls of the nearby Pratunam area. They also have live music starting from 19:00 Tuesday to Sunday.
- Opening Hours: 08:00 - 01:00
- Address: Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam, 220 Petchaburi Road, Ratchatewee

Bossy Club, Bossy Disco or just ‘Bossy’ on Soi Si Ayutthaya is the epitome of a naughty after-hours Bangkok nightclub. Some are lured in by the packs of girls who start to congregate inside after midnight, some stumble across it by chance and others end up here just because it’s where their taxi driver feels like going (they will often take you for free as they get a cut of your 300-400 baht entrance stamp).
Inside is dark, smoky and the pumping music means that emphasis is less on the conversation and more on the dancing and drinking. The crowd is mostly western men and Thai women, although you will find the odd exception to this unwritten rule. Find Bossy Club on Soi Si Ayutthaya off Ratchaprarop Road – although most taxi drivers around the Pratunam or Sukhumvit area will know the route like the back of their hand.
- Opening Hours: 22:00 - 04:00
- Location: Bossy Club, Soi Si Ayutthaya, Bangkok
