The THAI HOTEL is an
inexpensive family-run hotel
with a friendly atmosphere.
We are located right in the
heart the oldest section of
Bangkok on Rattanakosin Island,
not far from some of the key
historical sites such as the
Grand Palace and Wat
Phra Keow. In 1782, King
Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty
made the decision to move the
Thai capital from Thonburi on
the western bank of the Chao
Phraya River to Bangkok, on
the eastern bank, and the hotel
lies very close to the area
that still serves as the Kingdom's
administrative and cultural
centre.
CULTURAL GATEWAY - More
than 200 years have passed since
the Siamese settled here, yet
Rattanakosin Island continues
to form the cultural and artistic
centre of Siam. Closer to the
River along Ratchadamnoen are
the National Museumand
Library, the National
Theatre and Silapakorn
University, with its gallery
and famous College of Arts.
Students here are taught the
traditional artistic skills
of painting, drawing, sculpture;
the legacy of centuries of accu.
The immediate area is packed
with other well-known historical
attractions such as:
Golden Mount Temple
(Wat Sraket)
Wat Benja (Marble Temple)
Wat Arun (Temple of
the Dawn)
Dusit National Zoo
