FOOD:

The seafood platter is a riot of topshelf oysters, clams, scallops, crab and seaweed. If you're bored by the limited selection of raw oysters available even at Bangkok's finer establishments, you're about to discover bivalve El Dorado. Choose from up to a dozen varieties, depending on availability. A standout is Watch Hill from Rhode Island, with a surprisingly meaty, not briny flavour. Eating crab in the shell can be a lot of work for little payoff, but the steamed dungeness beauties here reward with large chunks of sweet, succulent meat. The menu changes weekly-sometimes daily-and this rotating roster of roasted and grilled offerings and home-made pasta seafood dishes-many made with Royal Project produce-are all nicely done.

SETTINGS:

The no-frills decor belies the wealth of high-quality seafood flown in three times a week. Fans come to eat, not to be wowed by trendy ambience, although it is a friendly venue in which to dine on the fine menu selection, including oyster varieties not available elsewhere in Thailand. Live jazz on Sunday evenings adds to the fun.
