FOOD
Magnificent cuisine gently spiced and endlessly intriguing, though often a bit too sweet. Mee krob is very sweet and built out of herb-flaked crispy noodles, and is great as a starter. Yam tawai is a mixed vegetable salad with shredded chicken and coconut milk and curry paste, and should be part of any meal. Gang kiew waan gai, or green curry with chicken, is mild and simply wonderful. Gaeng phed ped yang, or red curry with roasted duck, is a sweet way to enjoy two big thighs in a big soup bowl. Salads are very good, tossed with lots of ingredients depending on your choice, and can include combinations of seafood, grilled eggplant, squash, shredded chicken and mushrooms. A truly remarkable dessert is extravagant pumpkin and custard ice cream.
