SETTING
This small, stylish restaurant occupies the ground floor of a shophouse. There is space for 20 or so diners and room for a few more seated around the bar. ThaiPaz lends itself to an after-office meal as well as a later pre-nightclub crowd.
FOOD
Owner Jesper Sando Mork originally set out to make this a tapas style eatery, although the menu has evolved into more standard European fare. But do start with a selection of cold or warm tapas which are simply presented and rather more plentiful on the plate than one might expect. Salads are also good: consider spicy pomelo with dried shrimp and minced chicken, or pomegranate with rocket leaves in a fruity dressing. Mushroom soup is garlicky, creamy and packed with fungi. There is a good selection of single-plate dishes, including half a dozen standard pasta dishes that come with excellent garlic bread. Piquant massaman lamb and potato curry is infused with nuts and accompanied with fried naan. The desserts include a very sweet tiramisu that is presented in a wine glass and could almost be sipped rather than spooned.
