The hefty portions of Italian fare show that restaurants need not sacrifice quality for quantity. Not only does Spasso make its own pasta, bread and some cheeses, all of its organic vegetables come from the hotel's organic farm in Khao Yai. Crispy, brick-oven-cooked pizza, imported antipasti, homemade pasta and rich meat and fish dishes are the main attractions. To start, order the highly recommended carpaccio, a handsome portion of thinly sliced choice beef arranged on a bed of greens and topped with parmigiano reggiano and a zesty mustard seed dressing. Order a few half-portions to share if you can't decide on just one main course. Close the meal with Spasso dessert, a medley of rich chocolate cake, lemon and mascarpone pie, tiramisu and house ice cream.
