FOOD
Befitting its longevity in Bangkok, this is a popular restaurant for good Japanese cuisine. Head chef Yukei has been with the restaurant for 27 years and his experience is reflected in the creativity and delicacy of the dishes. Sushi and sashimi are in abundance, with California temaki, amachi (yellowtail), amaebi (shrimp) and akami (tuna) proving very fresh. For a special treat, try the house speciality imaebi wasabi, fresh shrimp with wasabi. Tempura, its light batter evidencing the chef's deftness of touch, should not be missed. Teppanyaki American beef sirloin served with cauliflower, mushroom, onion, shrimp and seabream provides a broad spectrum of texture and flavour; garlic rice and miso soup are served as complimentary dishes. Do not miss shirauo karaage, deep-fried crispy whitebait, the essence of simplicity but deeply satisfying. Green tea ice cream or mixed fruit platter rounds off the meal refreshingly.
