This new branch is very Zen with low lighting. Tables are separated by paper screens. There is a modern sushi bar at one end.

FOOD

Shin Daikoku keeps satisfying over and over again by serving excellent food that is simple and to the point. Sushi is always the best indicator of a good Japanese restaurant and the sushi here is five star. Selections such as salmon roe, tuna belly, octopus and mackerel are presented with just enough wasabi. Pickled kimshi comes with a divine spicy sauce and just begs to be accompanied by prawn tempura. Beef is very prominent on the menu and comes in several price categories depending on where it originates from: Japan, the US or Thailand. There is a wide range of noodle dishes. Among those to try is niku dofu, thinly sliced beef in noodles and tofu with a sweet sauce that brings out the meat's flavour. The dessert menu is impressive and the green tea ice cream crepe with brandy gets full marks.
