Shin Daikoku offers a wide list of authentic Japanese dishes. Mushroom salad is a satisfying appetiser, in a pleasant peanutsesame dressing. Highly recommended maguro is less impressive; only the thick avocado sauce redeems fish that could really be fresher. For mains, those who like to experiment with different types of grilled meat may try a combination of two courses, served with garlic fried rice, miso soup and kimchi. The beef served is not quite tender enough but grilled salmon is fine. Round off the meal with green tea ice cream.

Setting

Shin Daikoku is based at the InterContinental, but not run by the hotel. Decked out with wooden furniture and Japanese decorative items, the eatery exudes a very warm ambience.
