FOOD
Shan serves up a Mongolian spin to the more familiar Japanese shabu shabu and hot pot cuisine varieties. The key difference is the soup, packed with 60 different herbs, and supposedly based on recipes that fed Genghis khan's fearsome horde. The broth comes in two varieties, light and spicy, the latter being particularly comforting. devotees of Japanese cuisine will probably be surprised by the accompanying sauces, which are punchier and less sweet than they may be used to. A wide selection of meat, including beef, pork, lamb and vegetables are available to be cooked gently in the bubbling pots. it offers a different experience, for Bangkok's diners at least, and makes for a delicious, relatively healthy meal. Side dishes such as garlic fried rice and fried dumplings are also avilable. Desserts are limited
