Ruen Mallika offers authentic Thai dishes presented in a pleasant setting. Miang kana is a popular starter; small pieces of herbs and shrimps are wrapped in chinese broccoli leaves. It is an adaptation of a traditional speciality and preferable to the usual chaplu leaves which can have a slightly bitter taste. Another variation from the norm is chuchee salmon, a delicious recipe using a fish that is not traditional but works admirably in this instance. Namprik kapi is served with fresh mackerel and boiled vegetables.To help foreign diners, the menu is a thick, heavy volume with photographs and explanations of each dish; spice levels can be raised or lowered, as required.

Decorated in a traditional Thai style, the restaurant is located in a two-storey wooden house with a lush, peaceful garden. Seating can be inside with air-conditioning or in the garden.
