All of the favourites are here with
some less common dishes as well. Unforgettable raane-
khyber, spiced and barbecued leg of lamb for two,
will beckon diners for a return trip. Burra kebab, mutton
chop spiced with tandoori flavours and finished in the
clay oven also casts a spell of sensory delight. Murgh
saagwala, a stew of chicken and spinach, is a flavourful
treat while malai kofta (vegetarian dumplings) offers
a creamy-rich milder curry experience. Even humble
black lentil dal-maa-rang is outstanding as are the
naan, raita and saffron rice. For dessert enjoy Indian
specialities and masala tea or a selection of Western ice
cream and pastry goodies.
For the best Indian food in Bangkok, Rang Mahal is the place to go. Some Indian restaurants serve cookie-cutter dishes where it is hard to distinguish the flavours, but here, each ingredient and spice seems to find its own special tastebud to tantalise. The setting may be slightly stodgy, but the excellent food soon renders this a trivial concern.
