FOOD

One of Bangkok's landmark French restaurants, Philippe offers diners a diverse menu of carefully prepared, traditional French cooking. Owner-chef Philippe Peretti takes pride in his ingredients' quality and presentation. To start, pan-fried duck liver with roasted peach is a delight, two large cuts of imported foie gras on a rectangular dish with grilled peaches and a small salad. Lobster bisque is rich and highly recommended, as is mushroom morel cream soup. Vegetarian dishes are available, along with wonderful French salads like spinach salad with warm goat cheese. Among the mains, magret de canard, a classic, is tender and tasty while oxtail stew with olives is a Philippe classic, the dark meat in a sauce of shifting flavours and aromas. End with warm apple tart with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream.
