FOOD:

At lunchtime there are good-value set menus which tend to draw in a healthy crowd of local workers. The main menu consists primarily of traditional Thai dishes but a Western influence can be detected in delicacies such as lemongrass-marinated New Zealand rack of lamb with green papaya salad and sweet rice rolls. Food which is quintessentially Thai includes Thaistyle salt beef braised in perfumed coconut and herbs with lime dressing and fresh giant river prawns chargrilled in a lime and chilli sauce. The menu offers a clear warning of which dishes are hot, which contain nuts and which are suitable for vegetarians. There is also a complimentary tuk-tuk service, delivering guests from and to anywhere in the Sukhumvit area.

SETTINGS:

Part of the S&P group, the first Patara finedining restaurant was founded 20 years ago in London and the brand had established a global reputation well before opening up in Bangkok. The decor is influenced by Chinese elements and the venue is a converted 1970s house but it is the food which brings in the customers, both locals and tourists.
