SETTING

Comfy seating, polished concrete floor and tres trendy exposed ducts. Fun if you like to observe young Bangkokians and tourists partying away below.

FOOD

Simply presented on newsprint, the menu mixes international standards, Asian noodles and favourite Thai dishes. Appetisers are excellent: tender, herbed beef carpaccio comes on a large space-age plate with biting rocket leavened by parmesan and nutty olive oil. Prawn and tropical fruit margarita is a tequila, papaya, mango and pineapple gazpacho that enhances some slightly underdone prawns. Quesadillas with pineapple chutney is yummy, wholewheat pitta wedges filled with cheese, onion and a hint of chilli. Noodles include Singaporean sing jau chau fan, khao soi Chiang Mai and char kueh teow, Penang's lat rice noodles in black soya. Mains need more attention: grilled Australian T-bone steak is generous but not tender, and seafood molcajete, a blend of seafood in tomato sauce, is not up to standard. Close with green tea creme brulee or sangkaya fak tong (chilled pumpkin custard).
