Manna offers Thai food that is slightly reworked, not so much for foreign palates, but for more sophisticated locals who don't mind ringing a few changes. Tod mun (fish cakes), thin seafood pancakes and crispy turmeric flour wraps stuffed with shrimp and coconut are all good preparatory nibbles, or could be bulked up into a full meal. Tom yum is properly fiery, with good chunks of fresh fish; som tam gets an interesting twist from salted eggs. Crispy fried pork is a good, finger-licking alternative. A number of pasta dishes, such as spaghetti with shrimps, coconut and straw mushroom, veer into fusion territory. Close proceedings with a refreshing granita, or a more substantial brownie with ice cream, cryptically known as H.M.N.N.

Setting

As pleasantly airy as a mall restaurant can be, with neutral colours and funky bent-wire chandeliers.
