Ordering a platter of Italian cold cuts is a nice introduction to a meal for two. Salami, parma ham, mortadella and grilled sausage are served with grilled vegetables. A sweet starter, duck terrine has a beautiful texture that simply melts in your mouth. A mouthful of foie gras comes with sweet poached pears. Moving on to main courses, pan-fried Australian lamb chops filled with foie gras and black truffle is nicely prepared. It is roasted to perfection while maintaining its juiciness; served with a side salad, it eases down the palate wonderfully. A healthy dish, oven baked sea bass with potatoes, rosemary and vegetables has its fish crispy on the outside, although the inside is a little dry. A substantial creme brulee might defeat the less greedy diner. Millefeuille is satisfactory but could do with a more pronounced vanilla kick.

Setting

Dark and dimly lit with red candlesticks on every table, L'Opera is an ideal venue for romantic couples. Simple wooden chairs sum up the Italian vibe of classic brick walls and potted plants in various corners.
