Despite entrees similar to founder Gianmaria Zanotti's eponymous restaurant, the menu's four dozen pizzas and calzones are the stars. Goose liver salad with rocket, sweet cherry tomatoes and balsamic reduction is a wonderful mix. Insalata caprese, two rows of buffalo mozzarella between thick sliced tomatoes, is topped with fresh basil. The oven-fired thin-crust pizzas are scrumptious. Kids love simple pizza margarita, but try pizza Zanotti, a sweet blend of tomato, mozzarella, mascarpone cheese and imported parma ham or ground sausage-rich pizza al salami salsiccia. Tagliolini con salsiccia e funghi is a peppery delight of Italian sausage and mushrooms atop hand-made angel hair pasta while penne alla cream con funghi is a happy blend of cheese and mushrooms. To end, try strong coffee with ice cream-filled profiteroles topped with dark chocolate sauce, cocoa-dusted tiramisu or passion fruit cup's light, sweet and tart flavours. Or, just sip a sweet limoncello and savour it all.

Setting

Little Italy meets Big Mango in a Roman trattoria's friendly exuberance. Chatty diners at intimate yellow-and-white tablecloth tables tap their toes to upbeat Italian pop tunes as chefs blithely toss pizza dough at the beehiveshaped wood-fired pizza oven centre stage.
