The elements of Phuket lobster
roasted and flambeed with rum and vanilla, lime avocado
cream, hollandaise and orange sauce are delightfully
presented as a fun starter. A nice variation on surf
and turf is marinated scallops and roasted Australian
veal carpaccio, fresh spinach and cauliflower. La Vue's
grilled meats are a good choice, including roasted US
rack of lamb with garlic, Italian parsley and parmesan
crust, garlic confit, shallot flavoured with cinnamon and
potato cake. The perfectly cooked meat is flavourful
without being gamey. Sauteed Australian wagyu beef
tenderloin, rossini-style with black truffle, pan-seared
foie gras, madeira wine sauce and celeriac root mash is
the perfect dish for those wanting a rich meat overdose.
Passion fruit parfait with bitter chocolate cream looks
good on the plate, but could use more passion fruit
flavour and less sweetness.
The 25th-floor view through ceiling-to-floor windows is spectacular from a room with sassy pop art decor and air-con on full blast. Staff is a tad nervous, but pleasantly attentive.
