SETTING

A charming, two-storey 70s-style house. Bare brick walls, paintings on the ceiling and zebra- and leopard-print fabrics define the eclectic tone of the El Vino bar on the ground floor, while the decor takes on a more conservative look upstairs.

FOOD

There are two menus. El Vino's offers a variety of tapas-style creations to be enjoyed with wine, while La Romanina's list presents traditional Italian fare. Rocket salad with sun-dried tomato, parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar is a light way to start your meal; New Zealand mussels with chardonnay, garlic and chilli is ideal for sharing. also recommended is fresh mixed seafood with marinara sauce. From the many pasta creations, fettuccine con frutti di mare alla marinara is recommended. Served with a tomato-based sauce containing river prawn, mussels and scallops, the home-made pasta is perfectly al dente. Seafood fans will be tempted by whole baby sea bass, either grilled or baked in a salt crust with herb stuffing. alternatively, go for roast Australian rack of lamb served with mashed potato and spinach if it is a hearty meal that you are looking for. among the desserts you will find the usual Italian suspects.
