The Bangkok hub of the Face chain, that also has venues in Shanghai, Beijing and Jakarta, Lan Na Thai serves high-quality food made with fresh ingredients. With spices slightly toned down for a clientele whose palates aren't as ironclad as the typical Thai's, the food is top notch. Grilled beef salad is tender, served in a mix of raw cucumber, onion, papaya and garlic. Pandan chicken is deep-fried with a crispy exterior and tender inside. A generous serving of two deep-fried soft-shell crabs smothered in refreshing Thai lime, garlic and chilli salsa is a real treat. Plump, succulent stir-fried tiger prawns are topped with coriander and graced with a light garlic and soy sauce that is a stand-out in that it's seasoned just right, not overly salty. Stir-fried snow peas and mushrooms are delightfully crispy and chewy, respectively. For dessert, mango with sticky rice is top-notch.

Setting

A collection of beautiful interlocking teak houses makes for an exotic and romantic dining venue. Tall people need to watch their heads, as some of the doorways and overhangs are rather low.
