La Gritta's menu aims to present the best Italian dishes from each region, so diners ordering a la carte have a wide array of choices. Start with traditional caprese salad, the imported buffalo mozzarella light and salty atop thick juicy tomatoes in a light pesto-pepper drizzle. Lobster salad is a generous round of Phuket slipper lobster and avocado chunks in a balsamic reduction on an eggplant base. Regulars swear by the soft, tasty chicken liver ravioli in mushroom sauce. Spaghetti rustichella d'Abruzzo is lovely: prawns and thinly sliced zucchini in a sweet tomato-basil sauce, each ingredient distinct. For mains, try oven-baked snapper cartoccio in white wine and vegetable sauce or roasted lamb chops with black olives. Close by sharing a platter of Italian cheeses, fruits and nuts or by fighting over hot chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream.

Setting

Filled with light and plenty of room and simply decorated, the veteran La Gritta has recently undergone a renaissance under Sardinia-born chef Francesco Greco, who doubles as the sommelier.
