FOOD:

Chef/owner Oreste Casorati once ran the restaurant at La Scala in Milan, and he draws his inspiration from the traditional cuisine of Lombardy. The menu changes every week, but there are some old favourites that appear more often than not, such as home-made tagliatelle with foie gras, mushrooms and truffle. Risotto with osso bucco is also good, the rice prepared a la milanese, with saffron and marrowbone, the meat cooked long and slow. More unusual dishes such as risotto with strawberries and champagne may need to be ordered ahead, but it's worth the forethought. Tiramisu and panna cotta appear as usual on the dessert menu; but step outside your comfort zone for La Buca cake (which Oreste modestly describes as the best dessert in the world).
