Pick a couple of recommended Koi
signature cold dishes; try crispy rice topped with mildly
spicy minced tuna. Seared albacore, served with crispy
red onions, is fresh but the sauce is a tad too sour and
the sweet onions do nothing to the dish. Served up
in eight pieces, rainbow roll is a standardised dish of
assorted sashimi on rolls. It has nice presentation but
a little over-generous with the rice. Koi's recommended
hot dish, miso bronzed black cod with a medley of
vegetables is delightfully cooked, the fish moist and
the vegetables crunchy. On the dessert menu, green
tea inspiration sounds fairly promising but the flourless
chocolate biscuit with chocolate mousse and sencha
tea is flavourless and hard.
Koi is a stylish, sleek, contemporary Japanese restaurant with California accents. Following its successful sisters in New York and Los Angeles with a clientele of Hollywood stars and celebrities, this Bangkok venue is the only Koi in Asia.
