Ask to be seated in the comfortable calm of the aquarium room, where you can watch tropical fish swim back and forth as you feast on their less-fortunate friends. The simple and concise menu features the expected Japanese staples and a few surprises. Miso soup is flavourful with generous amounts of tofu and nori. Tuna rolls and salmon oishi sushi come as generous servings, but sashimi salad underwhelms. Eel with teriyaki sauce is tasty. Tuna pepper steak is a standout; grilled-to-perfection maguro sits on a bed of braised mushrooms, although the serving could be a little more generous. Vegetarian diners will revel in eggplant with sweet miso sauce, the vegetable roasted to a velvety consistency with a thick, delicious sauce.
