The menu at Keyaki offers an exhaustive, almost exhausting, array of dishes. Traditional appetisers popular with the largely Japanese clientele such as uni tororo (sea urchin with Japanese potato) are excellent accompaniments to sake and are small enough to warrant ordering several. The sushi and sashimi selection is very fresh, and includes some rather creative rolls such as unagi touji maki (grilled eel sushi rolled in a bean curd sheet). Teppanyaki and robatayaki dishes encompass a fine selection of ingredients, including several grades of beef, fish and seafood. US beef teppanyaki is deftly executed, while grilled snow fish is fleshy and tender. Desserts include ice cream (black sesame is fantastically intense) and traditional creations such as anmitsu, a concoction of jelly, red bean and fruit served with black sugar syrup.

Setting

Minimal and spacious, albeit oldfashioned Japanese decor with a commanding view of the city skyline. Options are available for tables, or seating at the sushi counter or teppanyaki bar.
