FOOD

Je Ngor's is renowned for the freshness of its Chinese-style seafood. Deep-fried rock lobster with chopped garlic and pepper is outstanding with a crunchy aromatic topping and succulent lobster meat. Stir-fried crab with chopped chilli and salt is greasy but the crabmeat is firm. When ordering boiled fresh shrimps, request smaller shrimps so delicate and sweet they render chilli dips superfluous. Non-seafood dishes can be disappointing. Stir-fried sliced morning glory is prepared with shrimp paste and very tasty. Excellent stir-fried Cantonese egg noodles with prawns is given new life when prawns are replaced by deep-fried marinated chicken fillets. For dessert, deep-fried sweetened snow taro is a must-try, as is unusual fried salty-sweet chewy gingko.
