ADDRESS

2nd fl, Emporium shopping complex, 622 Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok 10110

SETTING

Pounding music emphasises a postindustrial, 1980s look, but the exposed pipes along the white ceiling and walls are softened by a wood-panelled central area. It has comfortable seating and good lighting.

FOOD

The cuisine is a mix of Thai and international recipes. Miang kam is a Thai hors d'oeuvre presenting fresh ingredients for you to create tangy, mouth-sized packets wrapped in wild betel leaves with dried shrimp, roasted coconut flakes, peanuts, ginger, shallots and other zingers. Grilled mushroom on a mixed green salad bed is a delight with three large mushrooms drenched in balsamic vinegar alongside big pieces of lettuce. Kao nam prik pla tu is a traditional Thai dish with soft baby bamboo and other cooked vegetables, accompanying fish and spicy shrimp paste dip, to be eaten with rice, and clear soup. Tasty grilled salmon steak is sprinkled with Japanese soysauce and sesame seeds and laid atop thin mushrooms, next to miso soup, Japanese rice and ginger. Sandwiches, spring rolls, wildly creative paghettis, and vegetarian specialities make this a great pit stop while visiting the Emporium complex. Tiramisu is nice and creamy, but less so blueberry tart.
