Fireplace Grill's menu carries
extensive choices of imported meat and new additions
of fish. The signature starter, caramelised onion soup
en croute with beef essence and brandy is beautifully
served with puff pastry but is surprisingly bland with
little more to offer than a hint of sweet onions. You
cannot go wrong with quality meat especially with the
restaurant's highlight, Australian Jack's Creek 250-day
grain-fed roasted prime rib of beef, even though it was
slightly overdone. As for seafood, pan-seared Norwegian
snowfish makes a remarkable impression; the white
cream sauce is light and as smooth as silk. After a heavy
main course, Alaska Bombe with vanilla and strawberry
ice cream has potential to be the perfect dessert. Go
for warm chocolate fondant also.
It's all about heritage at the 45-year-old Fireplace Grill, one of the longest established specialised steakhouses in Bangkok. The revamped interior features beautiful volcano tiles with new LED lighting over wine displays.
