FOOD
Eugene Yeh, the owner of the hotel, is well known for his knack for gastronomic invention, and his menu offers essentially Western fare with a strong Asian tinge. For starters, sample pan-seared foie gras infused with red wine, mango and miso. The liver is very smooth and the dish is complemented perfectly by a glass of French red wine. Lobster bisque and akagai is equally delectable; profoundly aromatic, the soup is served while it is moderately hot and its creaminess makes its taste exceptional. A selection of pasta creations is also available, notably toro (Japanese fatty tuna) with spaghetti. Served on a banana leaf with ice beneath it, the texture of the delightfully fresh, raw tuna is divine, and the perfectly cooked homemade spaghetti makes it even tastier. Another main course delicacy relying on Japanese ingredients presents the heavenly texture of kobe steak in a teppanyaki style, served with sauteed vegetables and Xaoxin wine.
