Featuring dishes from India's north,
the food is rich and hearty with lots of complex spices
to excite the palate. The deep spicing on onion bhaji
fritters announces the delights to come. Boti kebab,
lamb marinated overnight and barbecued, is succulent
and savoury. So too is tandoori king prawns, cooked
just right and smothered in a delicious masala sauce.
Chicken vindaloo may be a little underspiced for some
palates, but is delicious nonetheless. Cashew-stuffed
mali kofta cheese balls in a super-rich and creamy sauce
is a vegetarian treat. Dal makhani's delicious simplicity is
a great counterpoint to the curry dishes. Garlic naan is
moist in the centre and crispy on the edges, just right.
Saffron basmati rice rounds out the meal. For dessert,
try home-made gulab jamun, a sweet fried dumpling in
saffron-flavoured syrup.
Decked out with ornate Indian design details, chairs with silk upholstery and low lighting, the spacious dining room has an appropriately exotic ambience. The kitchen is visible behind a glass partition, which adds to the experience.
