SETTING
Managing director Sergio Forte, from Rimini on the Adriatic, has borrowed a building design often seen in his home region whereby copious glass allows diners to feel almost out of doors. Actual outdoor seating is available as is a semi-enclosed area where smoking is permitted.
FOOD
As this is a pizzeria, the menu contains more than 50 pizzas, all baked in a kind of ovenin- the-round at the main dining area's centre, the wood-fired oven burning eucalyptus. A number of antipasti selections are available, among them carpaccio salmon with capers and black olives. One dozen soups and salads round out the starters. Pastas come in baked and special varieties and include choices such as alla puttanesca, canelloni with ricotta cheese and spinach and tortelloni stuffed with meat in a speck and gorgonzola sauce, the latter especially gratifying with its rich cheese and smoky-salty Tyrolean bacon. Risotti are on the menu, and if none of the five varieties happens to interest then diners are encouraged to suggest a preferred preparation. This special ordering possibility holds true for other menu items including meat and fish main courses; the emphasis is on accommodating the diner rather than imposing a cuisine concept. Portions are large. End with a delicious Italian ice cream.
