The readers of the Thailand Tatler are their best resource
and once a year they make the most of that fact when they put
together their guide to the city’s best restaurants, for
it is readers who guide them in compiling the list of establishments
to be included within its covers.
When Thailand’s Best Restaurants 2004 hit the streets,
it included a questionnaire. This survey provided Thailand
Tatler with a wealth of gastronomic information and valuable
opinions: some are shown below. A total of 365 restaurants
were nominated for inclusion in this year’s guide, with
173 being finally selected for review by an expert panel of
gourmands. These reviewers and contributors come from various
areas of expertise, but all have two things in common: they
draw upon a deep passion for food and wine, and they have
no professional connection to any of the establishments reviewed.
Members of the experienced panel of reviewers dine in each
of the restaurants, assessing quality of the food, wine, service
and price. As is Tatler's usual practice, reviewers identified
themselves only at the end of the meal, to ensure no special
treatment.
