The easiest way to break Sukhumvit Road down is by Skytrain (BTS) station, as the areas surrounding each exude their own unique character, attractions and highlights. Nana is known for nightlife and its street market, while Asoke, a business district, houses a lineup of luxury serviced apartments and high-rise office buildings.
Phrom Phong and Thonglor offer a multicultural dynamic, home to a large community of Japanese and Korean expatriates – staying in these two areas puts you in the midst of Bangkok’s cosmopolitan dining, shopping and hotel scene. The further away from the city, beyond Thonglor and towards the end of the BTS line at On Nut station, the more suburban and less touristy Sukhumvit Road becomes.

Grande Centre Point Terminal 21Bangkok
Why Did We Choose This Hotel?
With a prominent use of glass throughout the hotel and a minimalist white colour scheme, Grande Centre Point Hotel Sukhumvit Terminal 21 mixes a contemporary Thai style with unmistakably modern twists. The building itself is striking, with a golden stupa-like rooftop that is recognisable from across the city and the outdoor infinity pool ringed by frangipani trees is a wonderful area for relaxing, looking out over Sukhumvit Road with a lake view of Benjakitti Park. With many activities onsite - including tennis, karaoke and a putting green - as well as direct access to one of Bangkoks best shopping malls there are enough activities to please the whole family.
Rooms are minimalist in design, although every room features large windows with fantastic views, sofa and coffee table, and automatic blinds. Why Did We Pick It:
Located at the quiet end of Sukhumvit soi 24, Marriott Executive Apartments Sukhumvit Park is still close enough to the action, only five minutes away from the BTS and Emporium Shopping Mall via the hotels complimentary Tuk Tuk. There is plenty to do once you are here, with all-day-dining restaurant, deli and pool bar; gym, swimming pool, spa and kids play room on the 3rd floor and a separate building less than 30 seconds away that houses badminton, squash, tennis, golf simulator and small, rooftop tee-off area. If youre here on business, the Marriott Executive Apartments are well set up for this, with a business centre and 5 meeting rooms, the largest with a maximum capacity of 140 people.
The first thing that strikes you when you walk into the apartments is the amount of space. The studio apartments start at 45 sqm with the 2 bed suites spread over 130 sqm. All rooms are well-equipped, with a full kitchenette including washing machine, oven and dishwasher as well as crockery and pans, TV with international channels, desk space and Wi-Fi internet at extra cost. We recommend upgrading to the 1 bedroom apartment if you are considering the studio for a long stay, as the cost is minimal but the suite is a comfortable 65 square metres and the lounge is separate from the bedroom. The hotel is tastefully decorated in a muted palette, but if you ask for a high floor room then you will get a stunning view from the large apartment windows.
What we loved:
- Spacious apartments feel like home - Plenty of natural light throughout the suites
- Kitchenette with washing machine, oven and dishwasher
- Open air swimming pool, with separate shallow area for children
- Tennis, badminton, squash and golf simulator

Mid Range Hotels in Sukhumvit
For people want a full set of facilities but don’t expect perfection at every turn, these mid-range hotels are for you. Sure, you get a nice pool, room service, concierge, but the price is kept lower in different ways – for example, reduced selections at breakfast or slightly smaller guestrooms. The competition in Bangkok is so fierce that prices get reduced on five-star hotels pushing them into mid-range territory. But make no mistake, these are excellent hotels!
The Continent BangkokBangkok
Why Did We Pick it?
The Continent Bangkok by Compass Hospitality has one of the most envious locations in Bangkok, a few steps from the Asoke junction on Sukhumvit Road, and only minutes from the skytrain, MRT and Terminal 21 Mall - one of the most popular shopping centres in the city. The hotels travelling theme is cleverly incorporated into the hotel surroundings and facilities but it never feels overdone: the awning over the front entrance has a Parisian feel, as do the chandeliers that hang over the black and gold reception and if you head up to Axis and Spin rooftop bar, there is an almost Phileas Fogg gentlemans club feel to the space, albeit with fantastic views of Bangkoks skyscrapers. Axis and Spin looks down over the Continent hotels swimming pool and 02 bar, which share the incredible vista.
What We Loved:
- Funky hotel with an around the world theme
- One of the best locations in town, at the Asoke Junction on Sukhumvit Road
- Opposite Terminal 21 for fantastic shopping
- Rooftop bar with 2 for 1 drinks offers at sunset
- Amazing views from the swimming pool
- Floor to ceiling windows in all the rooms let in plenty of natural light
Grand Millennium SukhumvitBangkok
Why Did We Choose This Hotel?
Pullman Bangkok Grande Sukhumvit stands out from the crowd for many reasons, not least because of its impressive glass sail facade, reminiscent of the world famous Dubai Hotel. The interiors leave a more subtle impression, with rooms decorated in a rich palette of chocolate browns and nude tones. A little part of Thailand is weaved into the design with wallpapers inspired by the floral motifs in temples, rustic carved shutters outside your door and sepia shots of Thai landmarks in the rooms and suites. The beds are some of the most comfortable that weve laid our heads on and there is a cosy chair for lounging on and a desk if you need to catch up with work. Warm lighting gives the guest rooms a welcoming glow in the evenings and from the window you can enjoy the view of Bangkoks twinkling skyscrapers. Wi-Fi is available and there is a flat screen television with a good selection of international channels. Every bathroom has a separate tub and shower.
What We Loved:
- Chic bedrooms with Thai touches and a glass enclosed bathroom
