Sukhumvit Clubs

Sukhumvit Road is home to an extensive network of ‘sois’ (lanes) contains a wide spectrum of clubs with both local DJs and ones flown in from overseas. With iconic establishments alongside more recent additions to the Sukhumvit nightlife scene, you're really spoilt for choice in terms of where to party on any given day of the week.

Sukhumvit Soi 11 is one of the many hotspots for the bigger nightclubs, whilst the trend-setting Thonglor and Ekkamai area (Sukhumvit Soi 55 and Sukhumvit 63) is sophisticated playground for Bangkok’s glamorous faces, and has emerged as a new epicenter for DJ and live band parties with a more localised feel than Soi 11.

Below, find our list of Sukhumvit clubs and click on to see our personal reviews.

AmBar Bangkok is a rooftop with a difference. Located on the 8th floor of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Sukhumvit 15, it doesn’t quite scrape the sky. But what it lacks in stature, it more than makes up with a great range of drinks, food and a chilled out atmosphere that is far more enjoyable than some of the more famous rooftops in Bangkok. Add to that the great range of events and deals that always seem to be happening here and you can see why it has become a popular spot for those who usually spend their time on Sukhumvit 11. Bash Nightclub is at the forefront of a new-breed of Bangkok clubs, filling a hole in the clubbing scene by offering all-night partying in a cool and classy environment. This experience is reserved for the hardcore, opening at midnight and carrying on until around dawn (although there is no official closing time). When all the other bars and clubs on Soi 11 are closing down for the night, Bash is just heating up and attracts a happy mix of clubbers who live for the weekend. Read More...

Beer Vault at Four Points

Beer Vault on the ground floor of the Four Points by Sheraton delivers atmosphere and charm that is usually lacking in most hotel bars, combined with hearty dishes and one of the best selections of unusual beers in Bangkok. So rare is a chilled out, friendly bar in this area of the city that many locals have made it their regular joint, an impressive feat in this ever changing environment. The bar has a series of weekly events like the quiz night on a Thursday, and monthly offers on rare speciality beers from around the world.

Bed Supperclub is currently closed.

Bed Supperclub's tubular elliptical structure and sleek, white, space-pod interior are trademarks of the club that changed the Bangkok clubbing scene forever when it opened in 2002. Offering cutting-edge house and electronic music with regular appearances from world-class DJs, Bed Supperclub gave Bangkok a style and sophistication it was ready for. Since then new clubs have opened with styles of their own and Bed Supperclub isn’t regarded as a standout club as it was before; however, it also boasts a distinctive dining concept where customers are served dinner while lazing on soft white beds with chilled music and personalised service. The Comedy Club Bangkok is the first dedicated English language comedy venue in the city, which is a reason to cheer for fans and performers of standup, ‘improv’ and other forms of live comedy. Currently, performances are scheduled for Friday nights only, but the intention is to grow naturally while fostering a community of standup comedy fans as well as nurturing would-be performers.

The Bangkok Comedy Club is located on the third floor above the Royal Oak on Sukhumvit Soi 33/1, affectionately known as ‘Pub Street’, which is less than one minute walk away from Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain. Read More...

With bare brick walls covered in graffiti, exposed piping and metal shutters instead of doors, you could be forgiven for thinking Demo is an abandoned warehouse, but it is actually one of the coolest and most fashionable nightclubs in Bangkok. Demo is very popular with a young and wealthy set of Bangkokians who pull up out front in their Audi’s and Benz’ and then go crazy, partying harder than at most other clubs in the city. There are two rooms: the neon-orange bar area close to the entrance plays hip hop and is a nice place to warm up, while the main room is the domain of cutting-edge house and electro. There is also a large outdoor area which is a popular place to hang out and chat to fellow party people without the need to shout. Read More...

Do Not Disturb (DND Club)

One of the more recent arrivals on Thonglor’s ever-expanding clubbing scene is Do Not Disturb (or DND Club for short), which opened in 2014 behind Nung Len pub. Unlike most clubs in the neighbourhood, EDM is played here all night long, and there is a dedicated booth for local DJs to see how many big-bass-drops they can squeeze into a night.

The place is styled as a vintage motel (think old TV-sets on the walls, used suitcases stacked up and fake hotel doors), and the old barber shop-style smoking room is worth a quick look even if you’re not a smoker. Before a night of dancing, you can always head upstairs to the just-as-cool Kukkuuk Yakiniku Bar for a fill of Japanese food and tasty (but pricey) cocktails.

  • Highlights: Behind Nunglen, Ekamai Soi 7 Bangkok
  • Opening Hours: 20:00 - 02:00 Daily
  • Tel: +66(0)94 446 6269

One of the hottest clubs in Thonglor at the moment is Escobar, which originally opened to cater for the overflow from the adjacent Nung Len pub. However, after a recent facelift the club has seen a new lease of life, and now appeals more for young and trendy Thais looking to some throw shapes to techno, rather than scream their hearts out to the melodramatic Thai pop across the street.

As well as a proper DJ booth, there’s a chill-out zone around the back, a cool LED bar and an air-hockey table. Bottles of Red Label start at 900 baht, but unless you like your whiskey neat, expect the final bill to be much more.

Glow Nightclub in Bangkok is a party venue with a strictly underground dance music policy that is constantly rocking to bass-heavy beats. Anyone wanting the most cutting-edge house music in the city should seek out this dark, loud, diminutive club. Bangkok is rightly regarded as one of the world’s most vibrant party metropolises with world-class parties, clubs and events taking place on a nightly basis – but Glow offers something a little bit different: a place where your love of music is more important than the label on your back. Specifically the club has a restaurant, dance venue, live music bar and a tree-lined rooftop lounge. Levels Club & Lounge is a venue with three distinct party zones housed in one connected space, and offers a great alternative to the already rocking nightlife scene on Sukhumvhit Soi 11. Combining elements of a terraced bar, classy lounge, and a box-like clubbing room that has one of the best sound-systems in the city, Levels covers a lot of musical ground and tries to provide a little something for everyone. Occasionally they charge an entry fee for special events or on nights with international DJs, but it’s usually free entry. Read More...

Nung Len

Nung Len has been at the forefront of the Thonglor party scene for the best part of a decade, and sees a packed house most days of the week. Emphasis here is firmly on live music, which means Thai pop backed-up by hundreds of young, drunk screaming locals. The house DJ does usually play in between each of the bands’ sets and when things start to wear down at the end of the night. Arrive early (before 22:00) if you want to get a table on the weekend – and if you can’t, head to the more foreigner-friendly Escobar across the street.

Funky, fashionable and unwaveringly popular, Q Bar in Bangkok has been spinning quality dance and party music to the city’s socialite crowd for over ten years. This bar-slash-club is more exclusive than most other clubs in its vicinity, and patrons really make an effort and dress to impress. Q Bar is not the kind of place you would stumble on as it’s located quite a distance down Sukhumvit Soi 11 (one of the main party hotspots in Bangkok), and that’s just the way the management like it. The closest BTS station is Nana, as Soi 11 is at the base of the sky train steps – from there you can walk or take a taxi. From Sukhumvit Road, follow Soi 11, past the spaceship-looking frame of Bed Supperclub, until the road turns left. Q Bar Bangkok is 15 metres down on your right. Read More...

Sukhumvit Bars and Pubs

This section lists-out all of the popular bars and pubs on Sukhumvit Road, which we constantly update with our new favourite additions (as well as inevitable take down those that shut their doors for good).

Sukhumvit nightlife features an incredibly diverse range of bars from across the spectrum. The Nana and Asoke area of Sukhumvit is jammed packed full of more tourist friendly bars, as well as a few more raunchy areas such as Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza. The area is also teaming with glamorous rooftop bars, trendy bistros, luxurious hotel drinking spots and plenty of places to catch live sports. This Sukhumvit bars section also features plenty of spots in the affluent Thonglor area, which is where you’ll find more of a mixed crowd, including young locals, expats, business guests and a few tourists.

See all of our Sukhumvit bars below!

Bombay Bar

If you'd like to see how locals party and have fun, Bombay Bar is the place to check out. One of the top clubs for Thais, Bombay Bar covers a fairly big spread over two floors. It's usually frequented by very young night-lovers - university students or, let's say, people in their 20's. Drinks are nothing special and prices are average. Mainstream music is played until a certain time and then a rock band takes over; expect Thai songs and a vibrant Thai nightlife scene.

Bully's Bar

Want to retreat from the heat? Here's the right place, though a bit pricey compared to other bars around the area. If you don't mind the pocket burn, it's a good spot to escape the outside heat for a cool drink. A sports bar type place, Bully's features several TV screens and four pool tables. Their menu offers a good range of meals too, including both popular western and Thai dishes. There are a few pool hostesses floating around but they'll leave you alone unless you are up for a game. Unlike many other places in the area, it's closed up and they have the air-con on all the time. The perfect place to recharge your batteries.

Bus Stop

A relatively quiet place on Sukhumvit Soi 4. This semi-open bar and garden is an escape from the blatant sex trade elsewhere on the soi. Although it does have its share of bar girls, they are not very aggressive in their sales techniques and are quite happy just to chat (if buy a drink). Some of the city's hippest and trendiest clubs are found around Sukhumvit Road.

  • Opening Hours: 17:00 - 01:00
  • Location: Sukhumvit Soi 4, Just up the road from Nana Plaza
  • BTS: Nana
  • Tel: +66 (0)2 251 9222

Where in lower Sukhumvit can you drink for a pittance and meet interesting, unsleazy farang? The answer is not some haughty hotel lounge, nor some austere restaurant, but this 20-something Bangkok institution - little more than a wooden shack and a few stools that spill across the street.

Every night, a convivial blend of expats and clubbers swarm here to dose up on beers before heading somewhere pricier (at 60 baht a bottle Cheap Charlie's delivers on its name). A definite contender for Bangkok's most bizarre drinking hole, be sure to check out the oddities accumulated over the years - animal skulls, tribal masks and other strange curios (the toilet bares a classic sign: 'no shitting'). Tucked away down a narrow, predominantly residential soi, remember also to be a gent and stand aside for passing cars. Read More...

Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok waited a long time for its very own rooftop bar, and then finally one came along and showed the rest of them how it should really be done. Octave Rooftop and Lounge is more than a place for watching the sunset or having a romantic meal. No rooftop bar in the city has a 360 degree view of Bangkok that matches this, and the top floor of this three level venue is the highest spot in the city for a party. Starting on the 45th floor of the Marriot Hotel Sukhumvit, a three minute walk from Thong Lor Skytrain Station, Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge opens at 17:00. Although the location is handy, it is slightly off the main tourist trail meaning that it is usually easy to grab a seat at one of Octave’s tables with a view. Read More...

Shades of Retro

An apt name for a bar where colour and style are definitely part of its makeup, Shades of Retro feels as cosy and laid-back as your own living room. The location is hard to find, as it’s tucked away in a residential neighbourhood where you wouldn’t expect to find a bar, but this is one of those places you should make an extra effort to find.

Housed inside a three-storey townhouse building, it has a glass-encased terrace out front – imagine a European conservatory. Inside is jam-packed with mix-and-match furniture, funky lamps, old stereos and TVs from the 50s and a horde of collectibles strewn across wooden shelves. The bar serves up strong, delicious cocktails – no food as such but the moment you sit down, you’ll get a refillable bowl of popcorn to munch on all night. Lounge away with cool, chilled out music. It’s no wonder that the place is packed really fast almost every night.

  • Opening Hours: 15:00 – 01:00
  • Location: Sukhumvit 55 (Soi Thararom 2, Thonglor, near Thonglor police station)

Song Saleung

What an adventure this unruly live music bar is. After weaving past security and the snazzy al fresco area, we could barely move for the young, affluent throng. Finding a table, and keeping it, was a mission; as was dodging the toes of fellow patrons as we squeezed our way to the toilet or attempted a dance. Persevere though, because you may well be rewarded: girls with a barrage of hot guys wanting to top up your glass; guys, with a flurry of phone-numbers from cute girls wanting help with their English. Just be careful you don't step on anyone's toes!

Best described as a cotemporary up market Australian Bar, Tenderloins is popular with the after work crowd and the first port of call for sport fans who prefer a more intimate setting. Serving imported steaks, wine and a variety of beers – it’s obviously not just the sport attracting people.

The prices are reasonable and the music is cool; this bar is just the place to start the night or spend a low-key evening. Read More...

Do you believe in magic, fairies and fantasy tales of the imagination? Even if you don’t, The Iron Fairies is still worth checking out. Dimly lit from the outside and locked up behind an old, solid wooden door, this chic two-storey hole-in-the-wall bar is easy to miss if you don’t look carefully. Inside is as mysteriously dark, with little space where magic seems to ooze from every inch – a metal spiral staircase that rises up and stops in mid-air, cast-iron gargoyles and fairies lurking on shelves and walls, a Singer sewing machine that seems to be misplaced but actually is not.

The Iron Fairies is a bar/ironsmith workshop where you can savour the taste of dreams and imagination through its heady mix of cocktails, wine and lingering live jazz tunes. It also offers a few but well-executed burgers, each served up on a slab of wooden cutting board. Try the signature absinthe cocktail, if you dare. This is one bar not to miss. Read More...

Residing on the 25th floor of Column Tower, Long Table is a hidden jewel in Bangkok’s crown. Standing tall over the city, the panoramic view is exasperated by the nostalgic house beats that roll from the glass facade into the night sky. The same group who brought the city Bed Supperclub returned with an even more modern and gimmicky gesture – sharing a meal at one table. Believed to be the longest table in the world, it seats around 70 people. The bar seeks to redefine the dining and drinking experience in Bangkok.

Comprising dimly light hallways, intricate lighting and the clever trickery of mirrors to create the illusion of more space, the décor is a real treat. With such a cutting edge concept you get the feeling that if Long Table were in New York the entry queues would be somewhere over in Sathorn. For those looking for a unique experience, a chic cocktail or chilled glass of wine, Bangkok’s newest rooftop bar will not fail to impress. Read More...

Wanderlust Rooftop Bar

Whilst this trendy Thonglor rooftop bar may not boast the most dazzling views of the city ever (it’s only on the fifth floor to be fair), it does deliver a funky urban-garden feel with its fake grass lawn, wooden seating arrangements, bold colours and summery indie sound track.

Food here is mostly feel good offering like burgers, ribs and steak, whilst the drinks menu has a few imported beers (130-200 baht) as well as everyday cocktails with a twist, such as their strawberry mojito and Ocean 10 – a long island ice tea with blue caracao (200 baht). Look out for Nakiya Japanese Restaurant on Thonglor Soi 13 and head up to the top to find Wanderlust rooftop.
