All Nightlife in Silom

Highlights of Silom Nightlife

With its great selection of pubs, clubs and bars, Silom rarely disappoints the party crowd. Fancy sipping a Guinness while watching the latest football match beamed live from Europe? Make your way to Molly Malone's Irish Pub (formerly The Irish X Change) in Soi Convent, or O'Reillys right underneath the Sala Daeng BTS station. Want to experience Silom's naughty side? Head to world-renowned Patpong, where you'll find a procession of tightly packed go-go bars.

Or perhaps you fancy more trendy, more wholesome? Then seek out one of the clubs with live bands or beat-spinning DJs strung along Patpong Road. These get very busy around midnight, and include Radio City, Twilo, Funky Dojos and Lucifers.

Nearby Silom Soi 4 - something of an age-old institution among long-time Bangkok revellers - is also home to a few clubs pushing pulsating beats, including the grotto-like house music club, Tapas, and hip-hop den Luminous (go to Silom clubs for a listing of all venues).

Not far from Sala Daeng BTS Station is Soi Thaniya, the famous 'Little (naughty) Tokyo' with neons signs hanging from facades just like in Japan. The street abonds with really good and affordable Japanese restaurants, but you will have to resist the many pretty ladies inviting you... in Japanese.

Bada Bing is a fun-loving and friendly bar on Patpong Soi 2 where every night over 25 girls dance provocatively on stage dressed in sexy denim micro-shorts, army uniforms, nurses outfits and many other fantasy costumes that wouldn’t keep you warm, but certainly make the customers heat up. The bar design is modern, the service prompt, and best of all, Bada Bing is one of the only bars in the Patpong area where you can totally relax and enjoy yourself. With free entry every night of the week, you've got to ask yourself 'why haven't you seen this place with your own eyes?' Read More...

Cloud 47 is the latest addition to Bangkok's Amazing Rooftop Race. Located at the top of the United Center office tower, Cloud 47 is quite different from any other rooftop you might have heard of or visited before. Usually it's all posh and glitzy, with drink price list as high as the building and waitresses straight out of the movie makeup room, but here prices are surprisingly friendly, atmosphere is casual and a beer costs no more than 160 baht. The location right in the centre of popular Silom Road, just past the famous Patpong night market and evening entertainment zone, is also quite convenient… if you know where to Read More...

Distil is a rooftop cocktail bar and lounge marrying the most innovative cocktails in Bangkok with a seriously awe-inspiring view from the 64th floor of lebua Hotel. Comprised of an indoor seating area of comfy sofas, a circular bar, and an outdoor cigar terrace, this is a sophisticated place where guests can expect to sample some finer rarities that few other bars in Bangkok can boast: exclusive wines, cigars, rare whiskies, and resident DJs playing jazzy lounge house. There is a smart casual dress code at Distil and guests must be over 20 years of age. Read More...

DJ Station

0

DJ Station is the epitcente of Bangkok’s gay community, and can be found on one of the capital’s pinkest streets, Silom Soi 2. This huge nightclub - almost bordering super-club status with its multiple floors, rooms and bars – draws in the masses late on the weekends when things get particularly hot, sweaty and crowded.

The club usually puts on a drag-show early on with men in dresses miming to classic ballads, whilst the dance floor fills as the night progresses with the relentless techno and house keeping the place pumping into the early hours. Look out for the human-sized bird cages and, whether you like it or not, you will probably get groped. DJ Station opens at 22:00 daily and I.D is a must for all.

Maggie Choo's is the latest creation of the increasingly popular designer Ashley Sutton, the man behind the incredible 'Bookshop' and 'Iron Fairies' bars. Located at the end on Silom road, under the Novotel Fenix Silom and near to the famous 'Sky Bar' at Lebua, Maggie Choo's is both a restaurant and a bar, a place like nothing we have seen before in Bangkok or beyond. If no one told you where it's located, Maggie Choo's is really hard to spot, just a small old wooden Chinese door outside the Novotel and if the staff at the hotel reception didn't point it out to me, I would have missed it entirely. At its busiest and best when hosting an international act or one-off event.

Rooftop bars seem to be the latest craze in Bangkok, so much so that I wonder just how many cities in the world have more rooftop bars than here? And open-air bars are popular for a reason! The weather during half the year is safe, you never have to worry about rain, and during the 'rainy season' you can still enjoy many happy hours under the open skies. Actually, the cloudy skies of the wet season are a lot nicer than during high season, when all you get on your photo is a plain blue sky. Boring...

So here we have Park Society at Sofitel So Bangkok, another nice Read More...

One of the world's most famous red-light districts, Patpong is where Thailand's Go-Go culture all started. It has even been immortalised in a James Bond chase-sequence. Its two parallel side-streets, found between Silom and Surawongse Roads, house dozens of neon-lit strip bars offering naughty shows and the famous pole-dancing entertainment.

Patpong has long since been usurped as the 'king of the scene' by Soi Cowboy, its counterpart around Sukhumvit. However, its reputation means it's still a huge attraction, mainly for sightseers more interested in seeing the famous spot for themselves. Alongside the adult entertainment is a sort of night market as the whole area teems with hawkers and humble stalls Read More...

Thailand is a highly tolerant country where sexual preference is regarded as a personal choice when it comes to homosexuality. Gays, lesbians and transsexuals are all accepted as part of the Thai way. Thai people - both gay and straight - are also known for their sweet, friendly and polite natures. All of this have contributed to making Thailand a prime gay tourist destination, with Bangkok often being dubbed as the gay capital of Asia.

To celebrate this diversity and freedom, gay pride events are held annually in the three major tourist destinations: Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. The first Bangkok Gay Festival was organised in the Silom and Surawong area Read More...

Soaring 63 floors above Bangkok, the breathtaking panorama is reason in itself to enjoy a drink at the Sky Bar. A notoriously impressive spot, Bangkok visitors place it at the top of their ‘to do list’. Creating one of those memorable experiences that is not easily forgotten. The bar was designed by the same man who created the set for the movie Blade Runner, the actual Sky bar juts over the edge and is the only place to be when the sun is setting over the Chao Phraya. Quite simply spectacular. Read More...

Soi Thaniya

0

To label Soi Thaniya as Bangkok’s ‘Little Tokyo’ might be doing the Japanese capital a little bit of an injustice. This Silom street is well-known for its collection of gentleman’s lounges, go-go bars and massage parlours targeting the Japanese market; a little similar to the adjacent Patpong Road, just with no night market, higher prices and all signs translated into Japanese. Most of the bars here require a short elevator journey up, creating an air of mystery as to what lies inside. However, come to Soi Thaniya after 20:00 and there’s an obvious giveaway about what these bars are all about. Dozens of girls, many not wearing too much, pour out into the road to entice in the customers.

Away from its seedy-side, Soi Thaniya does have a couple of excellent Japanese restaurants, Thai street food vendors and a couple of more laid back bars with only drinks for sale, rather than anything else.

The Strip Bangkok has resumed its popular erotic snake show every Friday night and it’s the only one in the city. Dancing with a huge python around their necks, three girls move seductively to the music and presents the most unique and engaging show found in Patpong. The exotic and erotic stage show lasts for around 10 minutes and takes place several times throughout the night, every Friday night. In between live shows, a host of ladies take to the stage to shake it in their high heels and lingerie. Located on Patpong Soi 2, The Strip is one of the first go go bars you will encounter if you walk Read More...

On groovy and predominantly gay Soi 4, this chic Moroccan grotto is the place to go for Balearic house music. While a great price to chill during the week, it's usually busier on weekends. It's popular to take a breather in the al fresco area out front with its rattan chairs and chatty cocktail enthusiasts. Read More...

Twilo

0

'Twilo' is the kind of chic open-fronted venue that, if it was plunked in Rome or Paris, would soon be heaving with svelte, young sophisticates sipping cosmopolitans and carousing to sultry deep house. The music is mostly live hip-hop and pop covers geared towards drawing in the largest possible groups of people. It is a fun bar but does have an overtly touristy vibe.

  • Location: 70 Patpong Soi 1, Silom

Vesper Bangkok, named after James Bonds’ famous martini, is a fancy cocktail bar and Italian restaurant serving some of the finest drinks in Bangkok – that’s a bold claim but we are sticking to it! A veil of calm settles over you as you enter Vesper, which is made all the more apparent because of the hectic scenes unfolding along Soi Convent on the other side of the door. The bare brick, marble and dark wood combination feel suitably suave, but it’s the dedication to detail at this retro-chic venue will impress even the most serious of cocktail connoisseurs.  Read More...

The Zuk Bar offers an elegant, intimate setting with views of the courtyard garden and lotus ponds on one side and, through windows overlooking The Colonnade Restaurant, the water garden with its mystical stupas on the other.
