The oldest part of Bangkok, Rattanakosin Island is peppered with numerous historical landmarks and temples of the early Rattanakosin Period, including the world-famous Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. While walking is one way to explore the area more thoroughly, hopping on the Segway makes it both fun and effortless. With this innovative personal transport machine, you can tour the entire Rattanakosin Island, hitting all the major sites and attractions without breaking a single sweat.

Feel a pleasant breeze on your face as you glide down the maze of narrow streets and tree-lined riverside boardwalk. Visit the historical Phra Sumen Fort and quaint wooden shops lining Phra Arthit Road, before exploring Rattanakosin temples, Khao San Road, the city pillar, The Grand PalaceTemple of the Emerald Buddha and the royal garden Saranrom Park.

Rattanakosin Island - Segway Tour

09.30 –12.30 (closed Mondays)

The starting point is at the Segway Tour Thailand's shop near Maharaj pier. Before the tour begins, you will undergo a 30-minute training session to learn all the basics of how to control the Segway PT.

Once under way, you will pass through Thammasat University and exit at the Phra Arthit gate located at the foot of Phra Pinklao Bridge. Then glide through the Chao Phraya waterfront boardwalk and arrive at the Santi Chaiprakarn Park and historic Phra Sumen Fort. Here is an opportunity to snap some great photos of the riverfront scenery, against the backdrop of Rama 8 Suspension Bridge.

Next, glide through Phra Arthit Road, lined with quaint shops and cafes, before turning into Soi Chanasongkram and then Soi Rambutri, pass through Wat Chanasongkram. The world-famous backpackers' street KKhao San Road is next up. Here, you can enjoy a drink while taking in the local atmosphere. 

From Khao San, exit at the Kok Wua intersection, where you will glide down the historic Ratchadamnoen Klang Road towards Royal Hotel and the supreme court building to arrive at the City Pillar Shrine (San Lak Muang), the Royal Field (Sanam Luang), Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew).

Continue on to the Ministry of Defence, which is a neoclassical building standing opposite Wat Phra Kaew, and Saranrom Park, before heading back via Sanam Luang to Maharaj Road, where your journey ends at the starting point.

How to get to Segway Shop (Maharaj Pier) - Map

The tour does not include hotel pick-up/drop-off services, though getting to the departure point and back is easy. The meeting point is at the Segway Tour Thailand shop located at Maharaj Pier. You can take a Tourist Express Boat (Blue flag) which leaves every 30 minutes from the Central Pier and is also connected to Saphan Taksin Skytrain (BTS) station. Remarks:
- The Segway PT is appropriate for virtually anyone 12 and older. For those under 18 must have a parent’s or guardian’s consent, and must be accompanied by an adult.
- The Segway PT is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds (45 kilograms) or over 265 pounds (120 kilograms).
- Gliders should have the physical ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without any assistance or use of handrail.
- Also, gliders should be able to operate the steering control with his or her hands.
- Gliders are suggested to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. No high heels, flip flops or sandals.
- Anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to ride.
- Unfortunately, pregnant women will not be permitted to participate.
- All riders are required to wear helmets and respect road signs, pedestrians, bikes and cars for a safe enjoyable ride.
- Gliders are required to sign the tour liability waiver.
- Reservation is recommended as group size is limited to 8 persons.
- Guests must arrive 15 minutes before scheduled tour time to check in and start training on time! Anyone arriving late will NOT be allowed to join the tour group that has already started training. Safety and complete training for all of our guests are our first priority.
- Prices are per person, unless otherwise specified. All transactions are in Thai Baht. All prices and availability are subject to change without prior notice. Tour prices or availability are NOT guaranteed until full payment is received and confirmation provided.
- It is your responsibility to be at the designated tour location on the correct date. Please check your confirmation carefully. No refund for no-shows.
- If special events, parades, festivals, athletic events or construction are in our area, which cause the tour cannot be operated. We will inform you in advance for the rescheduling.
