IBIS BANGKOK NANA HOTEL REVIEW

Tucked away down Sukhumvit Soi 4, one of Bangkok’s most vivacious areas is the Ibis Hotel Nana. Enjoying a convenient location amid street vendors, nightlife, and restaurants and in close proximity to public transport, the property is well situated.

In a nutshell the hotel offers sweet and simple accommodation. Minimal in design, Ibis are leading the way in offering travellers low cost accommodation that scores highly in providing a clean and comfortable space to rest your head.

What's it Like?

The Ibis Nana is nothing if not a safe bet. Enjoying a central location while still being tucked away from the neon-lit beer bars and roadside drinking stations, the BTS and vibrant nightlife of Nana can be reached in a few moments' walk.

Guestrooms are all equal in size and stature, the ‘no-thrills’ concept ensures clean, comfortable and concise accommodation without exception. Adopting a minimalist chic theme, the interior manages to be inoffensive while still capturing a hip and up to date feel, ultimately making you feel upbeat and raring to go!

Where is it?

Situated about 200 metres down Sukhumvit Soi four, the hotel is far away enough from the madness to appreciate the distance while still being close enough not to have to use public transport. Nana, for some, is an acquired taste with its A Go-Go bars and 'enthusiastic' street vendors, it is also however a prime location that features easy access to Bangkok’s commercial and shopping districts.

A ten-minute walk from Nana BTS, Siam Square is just two stops away. For nightlife lovers, this hotel is definitely one to consider. A 15-minute walk from Soi 11, the home of Bangkok’s most exclusive clubs – Bed Supper and Q-bar, also an area with a vast assortment of restaurants from around the globe – Indian, Italian, German and of course Thai.

What are the rooms like?

The rooms are simple, compact and comfortable. The wooden floors and maroon walls are well balanced against clean lines, with abstract pictures above the beds that emphasise the funkiness of the hotel's character. Comfortable beds and WiFi (chargeable) are convenient for people who like to work in bed, while in the compact bathroom the power shower is a definite bonus and a great wake up tool before going out to face a day in Bangkok.

Each of the 200 rooms at this property is pretty much identical, the only major difference being smoking and non-smoking options. In-room amenities include tea and coffee-making facilities, hair dryer, a fridge cum mini-bar and satellite TV.

Restaurants & Bars

Food and drink can be obtained through the 24-hour room service option, or bar area. The trendy Tapas canteen-style restaurant features a menu of global delicacies including classic Thai and Mediterranean treats. The contemporary design is well contrasted by the classic menu. The Lobby Bar is a great place to start your evening amongst civilized surroundings before embracing chaotic Nana.

Leisure Facilties

Leisure facilities are a bit thin on the ground at the Ibis, the hotel serves a simple purpose: to act as a base, somewhere to sleep and eat. Facilities include car rental and an internet corner.

Business Facilities

The hotel provides business and conference facilities to cater to over 40 people. These facilities include Wifi and projectors.

The Verdict

The Ibis Nana is comes highly recommend for anyone on a stopgap in Bangkok wanting to be in the thick of it. Clean, comfortable, contemporary and convenient, essentially what you see is what you get. It is by no means luxury, but in many respects has perfected the art of providing budget accommodation in style. The hotel staff members were gracious and eager to ensure that my stay ran as smoothly as possible. With great food, comfortable beds and WiFi, the Ibis definitely stands out as a reliable hospitality brand that you can count on time and time again.
