Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok Review

Silom - Bangkok

One of the most popular hotel chains worldwide, Holiday Inn is known to offer the best value accommodation and no-frills service. Holiday Inn Silom, however, is far from being just an ordinary Holiday Inn. It is a well-maintained four-star hotel where every effort has been made to guarantee a pleasant stay.

Situated in the city's prime central business district, Holiday Inn Silom is surrounded by many caf-s, restaurants and tourist attractions. Right next to the hotel is Silom Galleria and Baan Silom, a lifestyle arcade with art gallery, caf-, bookshop and restaurant. Across the road is Central Department Store. Other interesting places in the area include the Hindu Temple and the riverside. And with the Skytrain's (BTS) Surasak station only a five-minute walk away, getting to other parts of the city is incredibly convenient.

An inn with chandeliers

Following the recognisable green sign onto a raised entrance of the hotel, guests can look in on the entire lobby area - thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass panels. Despite the spaciousness of the lobby, it is well-staffed and well-decorated with elegant chandeliers. The orange carpet complements the amber lighting, while contradicting the stylish wooden sofas - a sophisticated atmosphere rarely offered by any other inns.

The large reception area is handled by the hotel's efficient staff, who are there to ensure swift check-in. Don't forget to take advantage of the complimentary drink voucher that comes with your room key card pack (to be used in Orchid Lounge, a 24-hour caf- serving a wide range of coffee, cocktails and light meals). Also located on the lobby level are jewellery and souvenir shops, tailors and a tour desk.

Great eating options

A world of great cuisine awaits right within Holiday Inn Silom. Sample authentic delicacies from northern India while enjoying live Indian music (from 20:00 onwards every day except Monday) at multiple award-winning Tandoor Restaurant. Buffet lovers will not want to leave The Brasserie, a chic eatery overlooking vibrant Silom Road that serves international breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets.

The dinner buffet comes highly recommended if you like your food fresh from a live teppanyaki station. A wide selection of decadent desserts - including a chocolate fountain, cr-me br-l-e, traditional Thai desserts, ice cream and fresh fruits - is also available for every sweet tooth.

Conclude (or start) your night at Hari's Bar and enjoy a variety of tasty hand-crafted cocktails and a live band before waking up to a cappuccino at Orchid Lounge and a freshly baked croissant from the in-house bakery. All restaurants have special promotions and lunch sets alternating every month. Guests on the executive floor receive complimentary breakfast and drinks as well as access to the fully equipped business centre.

Two towers worth of rooms

Holiday Inn Silom's 700 guest rooms come in a great variety of shapes, sizes and comforts. The hotel is made up of two towers, namely Plaza Tower and Crown Tower. The 16-floor Plaza Tower houses 372 recently renovated Superior Rooms and seven Plaza Suites. Superior Rooms have all the basic amenities and facilities including a full-length mirror, duck down and non-allergenic pillows, satellite television with on-demand movies and Holiday Inn's signature electronic bedside control panel, which gives you the power to conveniently control every gadget in the room from one spot.

Crown Tower contains 328 guest rooms on its 27 floors. Executive Suites boast two spacious Bay Suites (66 square metres), each featuring a separate living area and a separate bedroom. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to the Executive Club Lounge on 23rd floor along with other fantastic benefits attached to the Executive Floor Rooms. All rooms and suites feature easy-to-connect broadband Internet access. Just plug the LAN line into your laptop, pick a package (from 15 minutes to 24 hours) and the whole World Wide Web is instantly yours.

Additional services include a complimentary platter of fresh fruits, free newspaper delivered to the room every morning, iron and ironing board, separate hanging closet. Wheelchair-accessible and interconnecting rooms are also available on request.

Every day is a holiday...

Holiday Inn Silom goes the extra mile with its facilities to ensure that every guest's stay is a holiday. In addition to the health club - which offers sauna, steam bath, Jacuzzi, fitness centre and massage services - guests can relax in an outdoor swimming pool or practice their forehand at the hotel's tennis court. Lessons are also available for those new to racquets. Complete your vacation with the many attractions the city offers.

If shopping is high on your agenda, you will be spoilt for choice as popular shopping centres and world-class malls are only a few minutes away by the Skytrain. Fancy a slice of Thai life? Take a stroll along the riverside - a ten-minute walk from the hotel - or take a boat trip along the Chao Phraya River to witness famous highlights like the Temple of Dawn and the Grand Place. Night owls, too, are well provided for. Bangkok's nightlife, with something to tickle virtually every fancy, is close by.

If you're looking for a place to stay during your vacation, Holiday Inn Silom has all the makings for a perfect hotel. The hotel's many eateries and facilities will please even the most discerning vacationer. Its close proximity to day and night entertainment, shopping centres and many tourist attractions makes Holiday Inn Silom an excellent choice for family, business and leisure travellers.
