Welcome to Sofitel Silom Bangkok, where sophistication and comfort walk hand in hand in the city's bustling epicentre of corporate offices, banks, shopping and nightlife. Ideally placed away from all the commotion, yet still very convenient to reach it whenever you want to, this 38-storey hotel is less than ten minutes away from Saladaeng Skytrain station and subway station Silom. Don't be fooled by the hotel's humble fa-ade. Its interior - with touches of Sofitel's notable 'Luxury with a French Flair' design philosophy throughout - is spacious and grand, like the lobby with its high ceiling, huge glass panes (which allows the natural daylight in), avant garde flower installations and an elegant mezzanine floor overlooking it all - tres chic!

As guests walk through the floor-to-ceiling glass door the humble sound of 'sawasdee krub/ka' (hello), accompanied by gentle smiles, echoes among the 'sabai' (sash)-draped staff - the first impressions of world-renowned Thai hospitality. Check-in is swift, thanks largely to the well-staffed lobby, where service desks like Bell Captain, Concierge, Reception, Guest Relations and Tours are located to ensure that every guest's need is quickly met.

The rooms & 'My Bed' experience

All of the hotel's 469 guestrooms (Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Suite Deluxe and Club Suite) feature d-cor with a contemporary flair, complemented by hardwood floors. Rooms come with great amenities catering to modern-day comforts. Expect high-speed Internet access (costs extra), CD/radio player, TV set with leading cable channels, movie on demand, all-in-one control panel, cordless phone, among other things. The bathrooms are large with huge mirror, separate shower and a complete set of made-exclusively-for-Sofitel toiletries.

Imagine sinking snugly right into an uber-soft mattress, duvet and pillows - all designed to send you off into a serene slumber. Now, that is exactly what you'll be experiencing as you'll wake up the next day having rediscovered what it's like to sleep like a baby... All of which comes compliments from the Sofitel's signature 'My Bed' experience.

With an upgrade to one of the Club Suites, a parade of complimentary perks like exclusive access to the Club Sofitel Lounge, high-speed broadband Internet, buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and late checkout until 16:00 (subject to availability) can be indulged in - the privileges definitely worth shelling out a few extra dollars for!

Dainty dining with dazzling views

Home to four distinct restaurants, bars and a renowned bakery shop, Sofitel Silom caters to every palate and taste. Voted 'Best Restaurant of  2007' by the prestigious Thailand Tatler magazine, Shanghai 38 - located on the top floor - serves up authentic Cantonese cuisine, accompanied by live music and breathtaking views of the city through floor-to-ceiling glass panes. If you want something different, head down to Mistral, a contemporary Mediterranean restaurant featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet with a great selection of Mediterranean, Thai as well as other international dishes.

Wine aficionados don't miss V9, a wine bar-cum-restaurant with a wine cellar offering a sparkling selection of wines. Sitting on the 37th floor, not only does V9 afford spectacular views of Bangkok, it also features live performances by talented musicians (programs change on a regular basis). For a place to relax, chill out or rendezvous, Silom 188 Lounge Bar and Library is an excellent place to do just that. Perching on the mezzanine floor, the lounge has an impressive range of champagne, martinis and cocktails. Those with a sweet tooth are in for a decadent treat as Le Notre, the famous bakery shop, is placed right in front of the lobby area.

Sofitel's savvy savoir-faire

One thing all Sofitel hotels have in common is the attention to detail, and Sofitel Silom is no exception. From a full-fledged set of toiletries (bath salt included) to a mini set of stationery provided at the work desk, little things like these reflect the hotel's willingness to take the extra step to ensure guests' utmost comfort. A host of thoughtful facilities like Anne S-monin Spa, which offers personalised treatments using revolutionary new-age skincare products, a Fitness Centre complete with an outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam and sauna, hair salon and a silk shop. Although not walking distance to the BTS MRT stations, it's easy to hop on a tuk-tuk or hail cab down. Nearby attractions are an exotic Hindu Temple, Charoenkrung Road with its wholesale jewelry stores, tailor shops, and the riverside area where the city's magnificent landmarks like The Grand Palace and The Temple of Dawn are located.

The Sofitel's 'know-how' philosophy is reflected throughout the hotel, from superbly-trained staff down to the clever adjustable reading light in the rooms. Sofitel Silom is truly an epitome of refined living in the heart of the city where everything is within convenient reach.
