DREAM BANGKOK HOTEL REVIEW

Dream Bangkok blends the funk of East meets West with look, feel and taste. The ‘in-your-wildest-dreams’ design goes beyond the envelope, bringing a new level of surrealism to the world of accommodation and entertainment. The setting is in the heart of Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok's pulse for fashion, entertainment, restaurants, shopping centres and businesses. A combination of elegance and hit-the-edge mood gets you in the Dream state of mind... enter the Dream world of theatre and art. This coupled with the Dream cutting-edge service professionalism starts at the front door and filters through to all zones of Dream Bangkok.

What’s it like?

Designed by renowned ASC Interiors and the Vikram Chatwal Hotel creative team, the concept behind Dream blends the exotic East with the whimsy of the West. The hotel accommodates its guests in two wings, Dream and Dream 2. The bright and vibrant lobbies in both buildings fuse elements of elegant Thai design together with a contemporary edge. Luxurious furnishings, elaborate wall prints, and miniature replicas of Thai stupas (chedi) are featured beautifully throughout the main wing.

One positive impression received during my stay was the exceptional level of service from all hotel staff members. The doormen, receptionists, waiters and housekeepers all helped create an attentive, helpful and friendly experience.

Where is it?

Dream is only a short walk down Sukhumvit Soi 15. The cozy and peaceful atmosphere of this lane makes it a perfect environment to relax and revitalize when on holiday in Bangkok. The hotel is nearby many restaurants, trendy shops, city hotspots and nightclubs.

The hotel is close to the interchange stations between the Skytrain (Asok BTS Station) and Underground (Sukhumvit MRT station). Both offer quick and comfortable transportation to other popular areas such as Siam Center, Silom, or the riverside.

What are the Rooms like?

The hotel features 195 guestrooms and suites in a variety of sizes ranging from 30 - 80sqm in its two wings. The interior of each room is an interesting contrast between the white décor against the deep-blue carpeting. The ethereal blue light coming from beneath the bed creates an illusion of living in a dream.

Set in the centre of the room is a heavenly bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and pillows. You’ll feel like you’re floating on a puffy cloud. The simple and spacious bathroom comes complete with a good array of toiletries and amenities and there is even a TV above the bathtub.

All rooms at Dream have a 42” plasma-screen TV along with a DVD player. In-room Internet access, both wireless and LAN, are free of charge. The mini-bar is fully stocked with premium liquor and wine and the hotel also provides a pre-loaded iPOD Nano at your request.

Restaurant & Bar

The Flava prêt–à–dîner is located on the second floor and serves delicious Thai and Western food, as well as a fine selection of top-shelf liquor. The comfortable guest lounge is Dali-esque and combines a seventies retro feel with hip minimalism. Playing laid-back and cool music, this is a perfect spot to chill out before heading out to some of Sukhumvit’s famous nightclubs.

Flava Lite, a two-storey restaurant and bar located on the rooftop at Dream 2, serves chic cocktails, fine whiskeys, famous beers, and light snacks. Do not miss sampling a premium Mövenpick ice cream from Switzerland. Mövenpick uses natural ingredients and is only available in some of Bangkok’s five-star hotels.

Facilities

A fully-equipped fitness centre is located on the 10th floor of the Dream2 wing. An outdoor swimming pool on the 11th floor is the perfect area to unwind while sipping on a drink from Flava Lite.

The Avatar Spa at Dream redefines relaxation and rejuvenation in a bright and modern environment with signature products. Located on the third floor of the main wing, Avatar offers an array of massage and beauty treatments in lavish spa suites. Avatar has a mission statement to provide a 'Dream' experience you 'won’t want to wake up from.

Business Facilities

Biz Centre on the ground level at Dream 2 provides computers with free high-speed internet access for guests. The compact meeting room in Biz Centre can accommodate up to 10 people, while the state-of-the-art conference room on the second floor has the capacity for up to 60 attendees and is complete with modern audiovisual technology, as well as wireless internet in all function rooms.

The Verdict

If the dream elements of your imaginary perfect getaway hotel consist of stylish accommodation, lavish furnishings, modern facilities, excellent service, and a superb location, then Dream Hotel Bangkok is definitely a dream come true.
