Hidden from the hustle and bustle of Chidlom, on a quiet tree-lined path stands the Bliston Serviced Apartments. Several basic street vendors surround the property, underscoring the fact that Bangkok is a city not only of contrasts but of choice. Once inside, the lobby is of a modest size, reminiscent of a Florentine property with its high ceilings and round lobby table taking centre stage.

The comfortable seating area where reading materials are provided offers ample opportunity to relax after a tiring trip. To the side, a 1920’s Art Deco-style brasserie features a rich green theme and with its classic high stools around the bar, it is an ideal place to enjoy an evening drink before venturing out. The property features 152 serviced apartments, each equipped with contemporary living, dining and sleeping space.

Where is it?

Bliston is situated at the top end of Soi Tonson, a quiet street that is also home to the American Embassy and several office buildings. Amid inner-city greenery, the street runs on to Ploenchit Road and is approximately a 10-minute stroll to the Chidlom BTS Skytrain.

Surrounding attractions within walking distance from the Bliston include Central Department Store, popular for its food court and extensive fashion collections and the apartments are close to the glistening Erawan Shrine.

The mega-malls of Siam Square, with its cinemas, bowling alleys and Siam Ocean World, are just one stop away on the BTS. At the bottom end of Soi Tonson is Lumpini Park which is a great jogging and relaxing location.

What are the rooms like?

The 152 serviced apartments at the Bliston are perfect lodgings for long-stay business travellers and families. With rooms that range from the one-bedroom executive (70sqm) and premier suites (98sqm) to the two and three-bedroom executive suites (125sqm and 233sqm) the fully equipped kitchens and warm décor make for a comforting home-away-from-home atmosphere.

Complimentary biscuits, crisps, milk, juice and noodles are provided, making for good TV snacking material. Kitchen amenities include a washer, dryer (in the newer modeled apartments), ironing board and cooking facilities including a microwave. The apartments are fitted out with contemporary and traditional interiors and the newly decorated accommodations use bolder colours while still employing classic wooden furnishings.

Restaurants and Bars

The restaurant is a separate entity. Although it shares the same building space it has been sourced by an alternative company thus breakfast and other meals are not included in set prices. The area is also a good place to pick up cheap and tasty street food.

The Mediterranean Restaurant is an appealing place for a relaxed lunch or dinner with its curvaceous décor and green interior: There's a feeling of understated glamour here with a menu comprising predominantly Italian dishes with a home-cooked feel to them. They are complemented by an extensive wine list.

Leisure Facilities

The Bliston excels in providing leisure and recreational facilities, catering to the interests of health enthusiasts and family travellers. The fully-equipped fitness centre is enhanced by an aerobics space where daily classes are held. Next door to the fitness centre is a children’s playroom where parents can leave their little ones while they work out, reassured by the fact that they are seconds away if needed.

The traditional Thai-style spa has an array of sensory pleasures for those who require some mind, body and soul indulgence. Treatments include traditional Thai and aroma massage. A rooftop pool provides a calm environment amid the surrounding inner city atmosphere and is surrounded by greenery with a breathtaking backdrop panorama of the city.

The Verdict

Bliston is in a great, central location, and is well fitted out and comfortable accommodation. This all makes the Bliston a top choice for travellers who rank convenience high on their accommodation wish list. The fully-equipped kitchen, welcoming interiors and classy furnishings all add to the warm ambience the property exudes. The essential foundations for a great Bangkok base are all here, including first-class facilities and state-of-the-art in-room features. Courteous staff members and punctual service add up to the proverbial icing on the cake.
