Siri Sathorn Bangkok Review

Bangkok Hotel Reviews

Siri Sathorn is everything a serviced residence should be: convenient and comfortable with just a touch of class. From the suites to the caf- to the gym, the execution is flawless - nearly too good to be true. Thankfully, for long-stay business travellers and casual holidaymakers alike, it is true. As a home-away-from-home - for one night or a hundred - it's perfect.

The fine points up front

The little things make the biggest impression, and Siri Sathorn is unrelenting in its pursuit of perfecting every tiny detail - so much so that they deserve to be highlighted first: wireless broadband is complimentary, as are yoga and aerobic classes, business centre facilities including use of conference rooms, a daily English-language newspaper, and a shuttle service to nearby locales.

The building is ten years old, but constant updating ensures it looks brand new (the latest upgrade - thick windows - turned apartments into noise-free cocoons).  Key-cards control access to elevators for added security. In-room ozonizers keep the air fresh and clean. Coin-operated washers and dryers allow guests to save on laundry costs. And every suite gets a great selection of current, local reading material.

Tucked away in the middle of everything

Less than one kilometre from Siri Sathorn is a whole world of opportunity, whether you're working hard or playing hard. Located among the towering skyscrapers of Silom's financial institutions, the residence is on Soi Saladaeng 1: an incongruous and relatively peaceful shaded lane. From here, it's a ten-minute walk to the heart of Silom (dining, drinking, and deals galore), the green oasis of Lumpini Park, and stations for the commuter trains (BTS and MRT) that open up the rest of the city.

Cool cuisine in comfort

Despite the name and the presence of a few bar stools, Liquid Bar and Caf- is more caf- than bar. Seating is a mix of tables and low couches, and the atmosphere is futuristic yet relaxed. The garden terrace is a great place to enjoy a poolside breakfast before the heat of the day. The breakfast itself is a relief for those that don't like complicated choices early in the morning; the selection of Asian and Western dishes is plentiful without being overwhelming.

When you prefer an even more casual dining experience, room service delivers daily between 06:00 to 23:00. The menu is refreshing in both its vast selection (exactly 109 items) and its low cost (several dishes are under 100 baht).  Thai food is abundant, as are steaks, soups, pasta, tried-and-true European favourites, and clever fusion mixes.

TLC for body and soul

Head to the second floor - specifically the gym and the spa - for recreation and rejuvenation. The gym is large for a building of this size, and all the equipment looks brand new. There are enough free weights, benches, and machines (Cybex, treadmills, stair-steppers) to go around, while televisions and views onto the L-shaped swimming pool distract your brain. The adjacent room is dedicated to yoga and aerobics, and plush his-and-hers locker rooms have saunas for a little extra sweat therapy.

Seven Eden, the in-house spa, is open daily from 10:00 until 22:00. Like the bathroom amenities, treatment products come from Spa Botanica. Facial treatments are a good deal, but the spa has options that are even more exciting: hot stone or detoxifying hot clay massages, an assortment of scrubs and body wraps, and two- and three-hour packages of pure bliss.

Perfectly light-hearted

Siri Sathorn is ultra modern, but manages to maintain a fun, comfortable vibe. The designers were playful ... and textures were their toy of choice. The combination of marble, wood, glass, and chrome elements accentuated by creative lighting is an eye-pleasing theme that prevails in every corner of the building - but not at the expense of usability.

With 111-suites, Siri Sathorn stretches the size limitations of the term 'boutique', but easily satisfies every other requirement: intimate atmosphere, top-notch staff, personalized service, and thoughtful design.
