What to Do at Night in Ratchaprasong
Be it after work cocktails, dancing the night away, bowling or singing your heart out, Ratchaprasong has something for everyone once the sun goes down.
You can enjoy Italian dining, then dance until late at legendary restaurant and nightclub, Spasso, which has a revolving line-up of live bands and is found in the lower lobby of the Grand Hyatt Hotel. There is also the more modish Bar @ 494, in which subdued lighting and cozy tables generate an intimate ambience in which to sample fine wines, whiskies and cigars.
At the Holiday Inn Bangkok, indulge in people watching and enjoy the DJ's and live percussion as you warm up for the night ahead at their contemporary Lobby Bar. Alternatively, try sipping on a perfectly mixed cocktail amidst the palms and fish ponds of Aqua, a popular hangout at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Very popular with the city's samba-heads is Fogo Vivo, on the ground floor of the President Arcade. A funky Latin-American sound greets visitors to this Brazilian restaurant and bar, where a vast drinks menu and dance classes attract a hi-energy crowd upstairs. They have salsa lessons on a regular basis, and a Brazilian BBQ buffet awaits down below.
Ratchaprasong also offers nocturnal pursuits that will entertain the kids. Try slinging a few balls at one the districts' ultra-modern bowling alleys, or being your own pop idol in one of their karaoke rooms - or perhaps try combining the two! They're reasonably priced, costing less than 100 baht for a game of bowling and 200 baht per hour for karaoke. Head to either the EGV Ratchadamri (6th floor, Big C) or SFX and Major Cineplex (6th floor, CentralWorld). You can also catch the latest movie releases at one of three cinemas in Ratchaprasong: SF and Major Cineplex at CentralWorld and EGV on Rajadamri.
