Where to Shop and What to Buy in Chidlom - Ploenchit

If you're looking for shopping - from upmarket brand names to high quality handicrafts - jump off at Chitlom BTS (Skytrain) station. It's the battleground of the city's finest malls and, with its abundance of upmarket, trendy and expensive things to buy, comparable to London's Knightsbridge or Singapore's Orchard Street.

Elevated walkways from the station link directly to where you want to be. The seven floors of Central Chidlom Department Store is especially good for fashion labels, shoes, cosmetics and homeware. Gaysorn Plaza, a sleek, cool white marble and chrome interiored complex, houses high-end luxury goods and designer labels. You'll find much the same sorts of ultra chic shopping in Erawan Bangkok, located at the Ratchaprasong junction. And don’t miss CentralWorld - a vast, sparkling shrine to modern consumerism, offering 500 shops and a wide range of products to suit most tastes and budgets. Highlights include trendy lifestyle store Manga, and fashionista-friendly department store Zen.

All Shopping Places in Chidlom

All Seasons Place

All Seasons Place consists of two towers, one of which leads into The Conrad Hotel. In this gargantuan building, a variety of stores collectively form the 'All Seasons Retail Centre'. The actual retail space is massive, and is spread over four levels.

While serving quite an upscale clientele, prices in some of the shops are often scaled down to affordable dimensions - especially at the end of a season. Clothing boutiques, books, stationery and shops specialising in high-end sporting accessories can be found here. There is fine custom-tailoring, an art shop, gallery, an antiques shop and a wine cellar.

The center also houses a health clinic and state of-the-art spa. Postal and various banking services are available too. The popular food court, adjoined to the supermarket on the second floor, offers unbelievably cheap fare in a casual atmosphere.

You will find lots of discounted items at Big C, as well as services in the building that might make it a worthwhile stop. On the second floor, look out for discount jewellers, a vitamin centre and massive supermarket and a bank. Read More...

Isetan Bangkok

If you have been to Tokyo or Kyoto, you will know Isetan. It is an institution of fine taste in Japan. The name has an expensive sounding quality to it, and if you have visions of Louis Vuitton showpieces, you are you not far off. If there are brands the Japanese go moggy for, LV and Anna Sui are definitely among them. Louis Vuitton handbags are the mark of desirability in modern day Japan. While Isetan caters to a specific Japanese clientele, it does have an incredibly attractive supply of international as well as local products too. No-nonsense cosmetic counters stock the solution to your every imperfection.

Mercury Ville

Mercury Ville Living Mall is a bright red assymetrical building located at the intersection of Lang Suan Street and Ploenchit Road just opposite Central Chidlom. With this new arrival, the shopping mile of Bangkok grows a bit longer and the latest but by no means last addition to the shopping craze of Bangkok is definitely a good one. To many, this five storey mall might not mean much, but to those, like us, who happen to spend half of their lives around here (the working half) it means a lot. This mall has a long history and it’s with growing excitement that residents of the area called ‘Ratchaprasong’ discuss the construction progress on a daily basis.

With large parasols opened under autumn foliage it makes for the perfect spot to stop for lunch or even just a quick coffee on your way back to your Ratchadamri Road hotel.
