Pattaya Walking Street Bars

Pattaya Nightlife

Pattaya Walking Street bars are somewhat notorious for their unusually attentive waitresses, happy to keep playing Connect 4 with you (especially if you keep buying lady drinks every time you lose, which will be almost every time). It is said that you know that you’ve been in Pattaya too long when you can beat a bar girl at Connect 4!

While this reputation is certainly deserved and there are hundreds of bars which are exactly like that, there are plenty of others with a fun and friendly atmosphere, welcoming male and female guests for a few laughs and a few drinks. Some have excellent live music, some serve a bit of food and shisha and others have live Muay Thai bouts just metres away from your stool. Somewhere on Walking Street, there is a bar which is just right for you.

Abbe’s Bar

Abbe’s is one of the most fun and friendly bars on Walking Street. Thanks to reddish-pink neon lighting throughout, it looks a little dark and gloomy, with music playing very loud. However, the walls festooned with flags, football shirts and photos document years of good times spent. Drinks prices are mostly good, except for the lady drinks, which even the staff admit are a little over-priced at about 160 baht. As a result, they won’t pester you so much to buy them one. There are a couple of pool tables right at the back and it is a popular place with sports fans if there is a big football match on.

The Blues Factory Pattaya

Despite the name, the two house bands make the large, dimly-lit room sway to a wide range of rock, blues, R&B, funk and rock ‘n’ roll tunes. It attracts an older crowd who like the fantastic live music and the no-hassle atmosphere. The Blues Factory first opened in March 2001, making it one of the oldest live music venues in Pattaya, and is still widely regarded as one of the best. The venue was damaged in a fire in July 2014 but reopened later that year under the ownership of the Tony Group, which also runs the Ankor Nightclub.

  • Opening Hours: 22:00 – 02:00
  • Location: 131/3 Moo 10, Soi Lucky Star, off Walking Street, South Pattaya

Blue Sky III

Blue Sky III is a fun, popular and very well-established live music bar with a cowboy look and a friendly atmosphere. It is a hassle-free place where the enjoyment of good music is the priority. The two or three groups per night play popular rock favourites. Drinks are a reasonable price and quickly served. There is a food menu, but it is not noted for its high-quality cuisine – better to just stick to a few drinks and the music.

  • Location: Next to Soi BJ, Walking Street, South Pattaya

Blue Sky Station

The place is often called Blue Sky 15 Station because the US road sign-style logo rather prominently includes the fact that it was established in 2015 in the middle. A large, entirely open-fronted live music bar, the majority of the clientele are local Thais, with the music being mostly Thai rock. The atmosphere is great and very friendly. As with most of the better live music places in Pattaya, it is a low-hassle sort of joint where you won’t be pushed to buy anyone drinks if you don’t want to.

Hot Tuna Bar

There are no less than four bars by this name in Pattaya, at least three of which are in very close proximity to each other on Walking Street. The biggest and best of them is sometimes labelled as the Hot Tuna Party Bar and is found over the road from Club Insomnia. The spacious room has a good live band playing rock classics every night and a huge number of bar stools and tables. There are also one or two pool tables towards the back. Service is pretty good, though not noted for its friendliness, and drinks prices are about average for Walking Street. It attracts a young-ish crowd of devoted music lovers, who can usually be found head-banging by the stage.

The Ice Cube at V2O Cocktail Bar Pattaya

V20 is a great place to chill on Walking Street – literally. Quite a small place, it can only fit a handful of people into the bar, which is cooled to -11°C! They have quite an extensive selection of vodkas and other spirits to warm you up, all in shot form for 160 baht. There is Read More...

Linda Beer Bar

A modestly-sized beer bar close to the Walking Street Tree, it is one of the older venues in town and is noted for its great atmosphere and friendly ladyboy staff. Only really getting lively around midnight, it is friendly and approachable, with good prices for drinks and free Wi-Fi available. It has a bare brick look with bar stool seating.

Lita Bar

It maybe isn’t the biggest and it certainly isn’t the rowdiest, but Lita Bar is widely regarded as the best ladyboy bar in Pattaya. A big part of that is the friendly and fun management, who have been behind a number of highly successful establishments across the city. Despite its small size, they’ve somehow managed to squeeze a pool table in there, which is great for breaking the ice in this discreet venue.

Lucky Carousel Bar

Commonly known just as the Carousel Bar, this is said to be the original Walking Street bar – the first of many. It is still exceptionally popular with tourists, locals and expats, not least for its quite cheap drinks and friendly atmosphere. It gets its name from the fact that the two circular main bars spin slowly around like a carousel. There are other seating options available if the constant motion gets too much for you. Despite the pink neon lights which usually denote a girlie bar, Carousel is relatively low-hassle, allowing you to enjoy a fun time and a few drinks.

My Way Beer Bar

My Way is widely regarded as one of the premier ladyboy bars in Pattaya and certainly the best on Walking Street, which is quite surprising when you see it. It is a just an ordinary, modestly-sized beer bar by the side of the road, directly opposite the famous Tree, but is extremely popular with ladyboy patrons. It is often called Hot Tuna Bar because it is right next to one of the three bars by that name along the street and their own sign is quite small and not easy to see.

Pattaya Beer Garden

Technically located just outside of Walking Street, Pattaya Beer Garden and the surrounding bar complex are popular spots for kicking off a night of revelry. The Beer Garden itself is located right at the end of a pier jutting out slightly into Pattaya Bay and offers great views of the beachfront with cheap drinks, simple food Read More...

Red Square Bar

Despite the obviously Russian-inspired name, Red Square actually welcomes a young and fun-loving mixed crowd of nationalities and is popular as a place to both start and end an evening on Walking Street. The drinks menu also defies expectation of a swanky-styled bar, with prices starting at 70 baht and an impressive range of high-end imported spirits and cocktails available. There is a food menu, with a good selection of mostly traditional eastern European choices. The music can be quite loud and is mostly EDM and house tracks, making it quite similar to The Pier Disco, which it neighbours.

The Roof Bar & Diner

The Roof is actually an extension of the Wood Ball karaoke bar on the floor below, but has a very different feel to it. It is a good place to chill out and rise above the chaos of the street below, with a great view across Pattaya Bay, cool easy-listening tunes, Thai and international cuisine and quite a comprehensive drinks list. Prices are a little on the high side – more comparable to a nightclub than a bar – but the great location goes some way towards justifying 110 baht local beers and 150 baht cocktails.

Simon Beer Bar Complex

There are actually two Simon Beer Bar Complexes on Walking Street – one opposite Discotheque Endorphin and the other opposite Alcatraz A Go Go. The Endorphin one is the better-known, featuring such names as Rolling Live 6 and one of the many Hot Tuna Bars in the city. Both complexes contain about 20 or more open beer bars, with each of the cookie-cutter venues containing the standard pink neon lights, flat-screen TV showing one sport or another, cheap drinks and friendly staff to play Connect 4 with. Determining which of the bars has the best atmosphere is purely a case of trial-and-error.

The Stones House

Open since 2014, The Stones House is one of the newer additions to the great selection of live music bars in Walking Street. The talented house band with a particularly skilled female vocalist have an extensive repertoire, including both Thai and western rock, blues, jazz and hip-hop, creating a great atmosphere with a mixed audience of locals and visitors. The bar itself is set over two floors, with a balcony on the upper one so that you need never lose sight of the group. It has the look of a converted church (a stone house, if you will), despite the fact that it is a relatively new building. It is brought to you by the group which runs Rolling 2 Bar on Soi 16 and Rolling 3 on Soi 8, with similarly good drinks prices.

Torus Pub Pattaya

Torus is similar, in some ways, to the more renowned Candy Shop bar/club further up Walking Street. It is open-fronted, with live music acts inside, past the palm trees and comfortable seating which spill out onto the street. This place has a brighter and funkier Mediterranean feel to it, though. While they play and perform a good selection of hip-hop and pop music, the crowd they attract is not generally as young and fun-loving as you will find elsewhere.

Utopia Rock House

Utopia has a very grungy style, both in terms of the look at the style of rock music played by the house band. They also have shisha, pool tables, reasonably priced drinks and quite friendly staff. The band starts playing at about 20:00 and carries on well into the morning. The staff are friendly, but not looking for customers to buy them lady drinks, leaving you to enjoy the great music in peace.

Wood Ball Pattaya Beach

Wood Ball is a karaoke bar primarily targeting the Japanese, Chinese and Korean tourists, though there are western tunes you can sing along to. The main bar has quite a stylish look and an amazing drinks offer – all you can drink for three hours for just 600 baht per person! You also get access to the private karaoke rooms included in the price, with over 150,000 songs to choose from. At the back, there is a VIP area with a private terrace overlooking Pattaya Bay, with a Jacuzzi and showers.
