Mixx Nightclub in Pattaya is glitzy and glamorous with two spacious rooms playing a range of party music to an international crowd of revelers. It is a club that has successfully combined an up market, sophisticated décor with a fun-loving party vibe and attracts a mixture of Walking Street clientele, couples, locals and young Thais down from Bangkok. Mixx Discotheque is found at the end of Walking Street – if you manage to navigate your way through the myriad of girls and bars and flashing lights of the most infamous street in Pattaya, you will see the luminous Mixx sign shining from the top of Bali Hai Plaza.
It’s free to enter Mixx and once you’ve got through security you are faced with two doors. On the left you have Rouge Club and on the right Crystal Palace. Rouge Club plays hip hop and RnB whereas Crystal Palace pumps out house and trance music. Hip hop is more popular and Rouge Clubs fills up quickly after 22:00. House music in Pattaya doesn’t pull in such a big crowd but from midnight Crystal Palace is also suitably filled with revelers most nights of the week. Dance floors in both rooms have small podiums encircling the action and are occupied for most of the night by stunningly beautiful and supple dancers.
With funky graphics twisting and twirling on the walls and red tinted disco lights, Mixx is a visually stimulating, and although there is plenty of cushioned seating and high stools, people are usually up dancing or at least propping up the bar. A lot of focus is on the podiums dotted around the club with professional dancers gyrating and high-kicking to the music.
Mixx Club in Pattaya does a range of cocktails and to click you into party mode try a sour Kamikaze: it’s like sending an electric shock through your body – in a good way. If you are with a group of friends, a good idea is to order a bottle of whisky or vodka and occupy some of the VIP reserved seating in Rouge Club where you can get a great view of the action but also take a seat and enjoy your drink.
Mixx is a modern, well designed club and thanks to free entry fills quickly after opening at 21:00 – although on a weekday the best time to arrive is around 23:00 or after. A final word: a lot of the local girls in Mixx have just finished their shift on Walking Street (if you know what that means) but some of them are just on holiday, so tourists should be careful about making assumptions.
