Pattaya Nightlife

  • Pattaya Sois 7 and 8

    Pattaya Nightlife Area

Taken together as one area, Pattaya Sois 7 and 8 create one of the more popular nightlife spots in the city. Despite the presence of a few go-go bars and numerous bar girls, this is actually one of the least seedy parts of Pattaya’s nightlife. The drinks here are among the cheapest and the atmosphere is among the friendliest. As a result, it is a popular area for locals and young visitors who do not want to see Pattaya’s famous naughty side.

Sois 7 and 8 are about as centrally located as it is possible to get in Pattaya, being between Central Pattaya Road and Central Festival Pattaya Beach. They host a remarkable mix of attractions, from sports bars to live music bars to go-go bars to ladyboy bars to English-style pubs and more. It is a great place to start your adventures in Pattaya after dark, both in the sense of getting a few cheap drinks down to get things rolling as well as offering a fairly tame introduction to the wide variety of nightlife available around the city.

The Beach Bar 2: Mods & Rockers

Formerly Walkabout Bar, The Beach Bar 2 has a fun and friendly atmosphere, where the emphasis is on having a good time rather than playing Connect 4 against bar girls. As the name suggests, it has a 1960s theme, slightly more geared towards the Mods than the Rockers. It is particularly well known for doing great parties, with tasty food and reasonably-priced beers.

    Em’s Bar

It would be more accurate to call Em’s Bar a bar run by a ladyboy, rather than a ladyboy bar. Em is very friendly and welcoming and she and her staff are certainly a little bit cheeky, but in a light-hearted way which you will not see in the more notorious ladyboy bars elsewhere in Pattaya. While there are a couple of chrome poles in the place, you’re more likely to find drunk customers dancing on them than any of the servers. With a pool table, a couple of TVs and a pretty good selection of music, it’s a fun place for a party without any hassle.

    Luxor Beer Bar

There is nothing outwardly obvious which sets Luxor apart from the dozens of other beer bars in the middle of Soi 7. If anything, it is a little more inconvenient to get to, being in its own little courtyard off the street, with a gaggle of excitable bar girls keeping watch to drag passing “handsome men” there. It is one of the larger establishments, with a couple of pool tables available, but it is not on the same scale as Pandora Bar. In spite of all of this, Luxor is very popular, particularly among locals. Without a doubt, the fun and friendly staff and their no-hassle attitude are major contributors to this, making the bar a great place for an easy-going time.

    • Location: Middle of the Soi 7 beer bar complex, Central Pattaya

    Pandora Bar

Soi 7’s biggest beer bar is easily the size of a discotheque, but is entirely open-air and is all just one bar. It has a good reputation, both for friendly staff with a generally good command of the English language and for an impressive range of local and imported beers and ciders. Being such a big bar, there are plenty of distractions available, including a number of pool tables, TVs and street-side seating to indulge in some people watching.

    The Pig & Whistle Pub

A fairly faithful recreation of a British pub (though only on the inside as the big illuminated sign on the outside kind of ruins the effect), The Pig & Whistle is known for doing very good pub grub, with daily 195-baht specials including gammon steaks on Mondays, fish and chips on Fridays and, of course, a Sunday roast. There are also five large TVs for watching the sport, along with a selection of draught beers, stouts and ciders to enjoy.

    Rolling Live 3

A large and popular live music bar, Rolling Live 3 is, as you would expect from the name, part of a chain of similarly named and similarly styled establishments around Pattaya. Rolling Live 4 is nearby, at the Second Road end of Soi 7, but this is the better of the two places in this area. It features two groups playing each night, the first from opening time until 22:00 and the second from then until closing time. During Happy Hour from 18:00 to 21:00, all beers are just 50 baht. Popular with locals and visitors, it has a great atmosphere with no bar girls to distract you from the classic rock music.

    Sailor Bar & Restaurant

Sailor Bar is among the most popular bars in all of Pattaya, renowned for its fantastic hospitality and its exceptionally cheap drinks. A glass of Thai whiskey with a soft drink mixer can be had for as little as 60 baht, as can cocktails and bottled beers. They also serve food and, while the quality of the ingredients is far from spectacular, it is difficult to argue with a 65 baht breakfast. The popularity of Sailor Bar is well enough established that they do not even need coyote dancers to draw in the customers.

    Shooters

There’s a lot happening in Shooters, with an upstairs guesthouse, a pool table, six large TVs playing live sports and coyote dancers. It rather creatively combines a sports bar with a girlie bar and, based on the fact that the place is regularly packed, it does so successfully. It boasts Walking Street quality entertainments, but with Soi 7 prices. With some of the prettiest girls in the area and Happy Hour from 18:00 to 21:30 seeing draught beer at 85 baht and cocktails for 80 baht, it is a believable claim. Don’t forget to check out their special deal on Thursday – all you can drink for 899 baht.

    Silver Star A Go Go

Among the very few go-go bars in the Soi 7/8 area, Silver Star appears twice because of a nearby sister-bar on Soi 7 - Silver Star 2. The flagship bar is rather distinctive thanks to the big neon guitar outside. On the inside, it is quite small, with a single central stage. The girls dancing on it are not as pretty as those in the more naughty nightlife areas and they have a reputation for being quite pushy about buying them lady drinks. With draught beer at 65 baht and bottled beer at 105 baht, it is one of the cheaper go-gos in Pattaya and is fairly popular as a result.

    • Opening Hours: 20:00 - late
    • Location: Soi 8, Central Pattaya
