Moom Aroi Seafood Restaurant
Ocean Front Seafood Restaurant in Pattaya0
Moom Aroi is consistently mentioned as one of the best seafood restaurants in Pattaya and thankfully it justifies this lofty reputation with an extensive Thai-inspired seafood menu, ocean front view and live entertainment courtesy of a talented cover band. The restaurant hugs the shore and its long and thin dimensions are under cover but open faced so diners can listen to the lapping of the waves as they feast on fresh crab, lobster, shrimp and fish, prepared in a variety of styles.

Moom Aroi is located north of Pattaya Bay, in Naklua Bay, around 8km north of the downtown area. It’s easy to find though: just take Naklua Road off the Dolphin Roundabout and follow it right to the end, before it turns right to link up with Sukhumvit Highway. Moom Aroi is on Naklua Soi 4 but their sign is in Thai so look out for a luminous purple triangle with green writing. The restaurant has over 100 tables so it’s a sizable building on the seafront.
The exterior of this modern restaurant is fairly nondescript, but once through the entrance, the ocean is laid out before you with anchored rowing boats bobbing in the gentle waves and the lights of Pattaya City glowing off to the left. If you are visiting around sunset, a table on the left side of this long, thin restaurant is definitely recommended as you’ll be treated to a beautiful sunset over a headland with the iconic Sanctuary of Truth an ornate silhouette against the sky. There are also indoor, air-conditioned seating options although these lack the impressive view.
The menu in Moom Aroi seafood restaurant is a compilation of ocean delicacies with different regional specialties of Thailand. Recommended dishes include spicy yellow curry crab, seafood som tam (papaya salad), and three pages of shrimp dishes. Dipping sauces are brought with every dish and centre around that classic taste of chilli and lime but other flavours are available for those who can’t handle the spicy kick of Thai seafood dipping sauce. A variety of fresh fish is brought in daily by the trawlers that can be seen inching their way along the horizon as you eat. You can peruse the fresh tanks looking for a tasty catch and then request how you’d like your fish cooked: barbequed, steamed or deep fried. For those who don’t enjoy seeing their dinner alive, you can also choose straight from the menu.
The band starts just after sunset and plays through a surprising range of songs, with Irish folk music and recent chart covers being particularly popular. Feasting on fresh seafood while watching the fishing boats make their way into shore should be part of everyone’s Pattaya experience and there is nowhere better to experience it than at Moom Aroi. It is a little far from the centre of Pattaya, but it is certainly worth the trip, and owing to its size, is a great option for large groups to feast on delicious seafood at a reasonable price.
